Okay folks, following the advice I just gave Mysh over his faulty HDD, experience from my own history of killing many HDDs, I thought it time for everyone to bring out their old Hard Disc Drives and try to put new life into them.
Yes grab that ol' Quantum door stopper or Samsung paper-weight, wipe the spder-webs from the Fujitsu or whatever HDDs you may have six feet under and slot it back into the case for one more crack of new life.
:soap: Rev. Acster is here to convert the non believers and heal the dead. Praise the HDD Lord and rejoice brothers and sisters.
I have found the mothership of Bad sector repairers for many HDD makes.
Fujitsu (http://www.fujitsu-europe.com/support/disk/software/erase.zip)
IBM (http://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/download.htm)
Maxtor (http://www.maxtor.com/Softwaredownload/utilities.html)
Quantum (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/download/software/zdisk101.zip)
Samsung (http://samsungelectronics.com/hdd/support/downloads/attach_file/clearhdd.exe)
Seagate (http://www.seagate.com/cgi-bin/discwiz.cgi)
Western Digital (http://www.wdc.com/support/download/dlg/dlgdiag.zip)
For it is written:
hardware secrets 1:8 The bad sectors are not "removed", but only listed in this defective sectors list, making the operational system to ignore them.
If after this procedure new bad sectors start to arise, you should replace the hard disk, since its magnetic media is not ok.
The faulty hard drive owners seeked the good word of Rev. Acster. They thought that this was good and so it was good. amen. :D
Hope many can make good use of these links.
