Nite

Some elements of V8Challenge seemed so close to Rally Masters from 2 years ago that I now reinstalled RM and compared the 2. And with V8C and RM side by side I think its safe to say that one is lifted straight from the other.

Handling of the cars are very similar if not the same, given the fact that they're from different classes. Skidmarks, exhaust flames and backfire sounds are completely identical. The cars could be from the same game.
Also sweeping landscapes and numerous trackside objects are no novelty.

Also, for some reason, when opening V8C I now get the sound of a rally car, revved mercilessly, the very sound that comes with the RM opener. Total mixup between two related games.
Regarding replays, I think customers deserve a finished product, especially now after years of expertise with a particular code. A Mod of a 2 year old game with less functions than the original can usually be found on a CD glued to a monthly PC game magazine. Dont get me wrong, its not a bad game at all (and neither was RM), but cutting corners so obviously and with a full price game doesn't seem right. Bathurst deserves a little better.
And Dice know how to do it, even in 2000. From a RM replay, taken while racing online:

Its not our fault someone at EA Sports started advertising way before they had a playable game. Rushing a title through to release is always the publisher's fault. The people at Dice mostlikely did their best to keep up with the imposed deadlines. Also 'priorities' come to mind, next to this locally released game Dice are also contractors for Microsoft and the XBox.
There is still hope they bring out a patch for replays some time soon.
