Man am I tired!

I've just spent the last 2 (or is it 3?) hours racing with various people, mostly with [XR] Chey and some of the other [XR] racers.

What a blast.

I obviously figured out the problem I was having and got on-line.

Kept losing the connection tho, so went racing on the 'No Stats' server, just to be doing it on-line. lol

Eventually had enough and went back to the other server and managed to get into a race or three with a bunch of people.

Chey was totally blowing people away (and I mean everybody!)
everytime she hit the track and what was really spinning me out is that Chey was even beating *me* and I was in a 'faster' car!

Me driving a '95 911 Turbo (996)* and Chey driving a '78 whatever and I only just beat her to the line on Industrial!
&(

Amazing.

Excellent (/Monty Burns) driving Chey!

Wow, thanks to much for the compliments, Mickk! It was wonderful to race with you and to see you had your problem solves. Welcome to the "stat" servers! Hope you are trouble free for as long as you choose to race!

Yeah, Chey is VERY fast :)

I am going to sneak into her garage one night and fill the trunk of all of her cars with concrete - just so I will able to keep her tail-lights in sight for more than 100 metres :D - just kidding :HB:

I am hoping to get online for a while today. It looks like I might have to try driving with automatic shifting to reduce the neck and shoulder soreness I get - damn - even slower now :'(

I wish I could play online, but i'm not overly good at racing PU=((

I think we need to sabotage the engines in Chey's cars.. Cripes, she's too fast... ^_^

hi, S.P Industries, All!

Oh, S.P, please don't let that stop you, ever. It's all about fun, not how fast you are. There are people of all skills levels out there racing online. You are more than welcome to join in the fun anytime! There are even several groups of racers who specialize in racing "stock" cars. There are so many great people there and with all the different combinations of car/track/mod-stock, there's still quite a bit of variety to be had. I think quite a few people burn out or miss so much of the game pursuing just the fastest part of the game. Come join us!

are you asking me to join team XR or something, because that would be an honour for me to join such a team

Well, Mr. S.P, I'm just a soldier and can't do an invite. But what I was suggesting is that you come racing online with us, regardless of how "well" you can do it. There's fun to be had there whether you're ultra-fast or just learning it! As far as joining Team XR, well... Team Xtreme Racing (http://www.team-xr.com) values personality and commitment to the online game over things like skill and points accumulation. XRs, as a team, believe that enjoying the game and helping others do the same is a very high priority. As far as [XR]S.P, it's always possible!

Oh, S.P!

People are racing online on the EA servers almost 24 hours, 7 days a week. You need to first create an account with Electronic Arts Online Racing (http://earacing.com/Account.phtml?func=cgi_eacustomer_create&do=show). Understand that they do NOT email you your password or account information. It is displayed right then and there. Also only use numbers or letters. Avoid any special characters, no puntuation, no brackets, etc. Next you need to add the NFS-Porsche game to your account (http://earacing.com/Account.phtml?func=cgi_eacustomer_add_game&do=show) in order to allow you to access your account with that game. Next, start NFS-Porsche, load your "game/profile/persona". Select "Multiplayer", then "Internet Games". Type in your Account Name and Password, exactly as you made them originally (case sensitive!). Click "Sign On" and you should be taken to the "Server Selection" screen. Choose (click on to highlight in red) the most "populated" server (there are 3 servers total) and click "Enter", and you're on the server, ready to "join" a game, or create one, or chat with other players in the "lobby"!

yeah SP....
just get on and have a go..... that's what I did :))

It's the best game in the world..... I waited over 30 years for a game like this.

Practicing with slower cars (356 and maybe GT3 ) will give you a feel for the tracks.... getting a good 'racing line' is the key to driving well...

There's plenty of folks willing to race with you, and some will even show you the ropes :))

Welcome to your new addiction (its a lot better than other vices)

c u online I hope, real soon :))

Does it cost to have an account?

Cheyenne

Hi, NameX!

No, accounts are completely free. You need nothing to sign up except the the will to do so and an ability to type a few letters or numbers, make a few mouse clicks! Come join us! -^

Dave Hmmm.... I know what you mean...
For a while I was getting severe pain in neck and shoulder. I attributed that to age... but come to think of it, taking 5 months off seems to have cured my neck/shoulder problem.
I mean, it was getting quite severe.

I actually find that I'm much better in automatic in some of the cars. Especially the GT1 and Moby. My gearing is so spread out, I make too many mistakes thinking I can downshift when I can't.
95T I seem to do better with in auto also.

I think that with the real fast cars, shifting is just one more thing I have to think about, therefore, one more thing I can screw up.

With the older cars though, I gotta have manual. Got to keep those R's up.

Hya SP!By "Thingy" are you referring to the newest version of PU v3.5?If that's it then that's the auto updater working. To play PU online ya pretty much have to run v3.5,so when it asks you if you want to install it,click yes and wait.It is supposed to go back to the desktop,so dont worry just wait untill it's complete. If you're on dial up internet it may take a few minutes.;)

Hey S.P! I had the same problem once, a message said an update is available! e.g. 12000K...I'd get dumped to windows if I tried to obtain it! I couldn't get online for months!

The problem was, my computer didn't have the 'EA Update' program on it anywhere. I believe it gets installed as its own entity, when you install PU from the game CD...I'm guessing EA Update is either missing or corrupt on your computer...Try re-installing EA Update off the game CD...

Hi, S.P!http://www.geocities.com/xrchey/whiteangelbluehairtiny.txt

Yes, I watched your replay! actually it's very good. I do notice though that your car is "stock" even though it's "owned". You can go much much faster in a "tuned" car, that is changing your downforce and tire pressures, adjusting your suspension sliders.

Still, it's a good effort. you avoid, generally, going "too fast" and hitting things because of that. You do run awfully wide on a lot of turns and the routes you take aren't the fastest. With a little practice and some optimizing of your racing line and routes you can get much faster.

I notice you were playing with Collision (necessary for offline) and Damage on. So I used the same settings when I did two quick runs, one in a "stock" GT1 just like yours, "owned" but not at all "tuned" and then in one that has been tuned.

The filenames "AuGT1-NoH-Stk-2-14-50-CDon-[XR]Chey" indicates the "Stock" car, CD on settings and No HUD display, just like it normally shows.

The filename "AuGT1-HUD-Stk-2-14-50-CDon-[XR]Chey" indicates the same "Stock" car, CD on settings but displaying the HUD so you can see speeds, shift points, etc.

The filename "AuGT1-NoH-Mod-2-02-00-CDon-[XR]Chey" indicates a "Modfied" car (tuned up), CD on, No HUD.

The filename "AuGT1-HUD-Mod-2-02-00-CDon-[XR]Chey" indicates a "Modified" car (tuned up) CD on, with HUD display.

These are by no means the best that can be done either. Someone like Wazza, Domagoj or prize can knock out much better times. I can too, but I simply ran these back to back, "cold" (no practice), so these aren't nearly the best that can be done, but they show that there is a lot more speed to be had with this car and track combination.

S.P, come racing online with us and you'll see! There's so much to learn out there, and most every racer is eager to share and help you with anything you need!

Also, when submitting a post with an attachment, if you hit "Preview Reply" it removes the attachment from the "Attach file:" field. So if you review your post before "submitting" you lose your attachment and need to "re-Browse" for the file! I know we all do that a lot here on the board!

good to see you racing lots... :)

and you still using ur sig pic from my site.. cool stuff 8)~

Yes, the first thing you need to learn is good setups, knowledge of the tracks, and good turning points, or bad spots... once you even all of this out, you can gain a final couple of seconds from other little tricks such as railing.. a fine art, using the handbrake... ;)

A fully tuned Gt1 is capable of around 48/49 seconds on MC2, and by adding in a couple of wall slides/rails its possible to get down to a 45 second lap, or with some super super luck a 44.. but don't worry.. that takes a great deal of practice.... Just continue having fun learning circuits, and by watching other people's replays, and you may get some good information from them. :)

When I was new, I often watched the "pros" replays, such as [DR]-AS, and managed to try and copy his racing lines, and he helped in car setups too.. I used to run 0/0 df on all cars for all tracks... ^_^ ... Only once I had more at the back, I became a bit better....

Anyway, take care dude..

And if you're wanting to watch any replays, I have all tracks fwd and bkw's with the Gt1 or 95 Turbo on my website... www.wazza.tk

:Peace:
