View Full Version : Maybe WSC never existed, at all..
I've been looking at some different sites, about World Sports Cars, and, you know, some people are saying that it was all just a huge fraud, designed to get a heap of money out of a software publisher.. (that was at www.simracingworld.com)
Some of the people are saying that the screen shots and videos may have just been renderings from then 3D software..
Personally, I don't think this is true, but, maybe it is.. Though I'd doubt it..
But it's certainly something to think about.. What do you think?

I dunno man, scandals like that are pretty tough to get away with. Mind you, I do recall a case of a huge concert promoter who took the money and ran, without paying his staff or any of the bands.... He has never been seen since. So I guess it is possible, but I would have to place my bet on the rumor as being "highly unlikely". ;)
I doubt Empire Interactive would have fallen for such a scam..
And anyhow, some online gaming sites have apparently tested early build versions of WSC (or at least reported so).. Who knows.. But, if it was a scam, then, it'd have to be just about the greatest scam ever..
I doubt it was a scam. I know a few guys who are regulars on WinVROC who had alpha or beta versions of the game almost a year ago now. The guys who were working on WSC were also GPLers and often corresponded with regulars of the GPL online community. The last I heard of WSC was that they were having problems securing the World Sports Car name and I guess it just went downhill from there.

I KNOW it wasnt a fraud. I saw it at E3 last year...and dont give me that crap that it wasnt there (thats what everyone says). I know it was there because I saw it. They had a "replay" of a lotus running around Brands Hatch I think...it was running in a loop in the game engine of the PC version, and the Empire rep. actually demonstrated the PS2 version, by actually driving it with the controller. He kept complaining how the PS2 version was too "grainy and pixelated" and that there was a lot of work that needed to be done to the 3d engine for the PS2 version. I still have the press kit and cd that came with it. Its loaded with really hi-res shots of WSC and a bunch of other games that empire was gonna release. (Starsky and Hutch is another that I remember on the CD) If I had a digital camera I would take a picture of the cd and presskit, but for the meantime you will just have to take my word for it.
Don't worry, I fully believe you. I was just broadcasting some opinions that I had never heard before, about WSC..
It seems a shame about the unfortunate fate of the PC version.. I wish their was something that we could do, to make WSC happen, for PC, quickly, and, in undiluted form (regarding the physics engine).
I was so much looking forward to WSC, since I heard that it had a Porsche 917 Kurzheck in it. (Though I've never seen any screenshots of it, anywhere). Maybe someone here knows if any exist, and can post them perhaps?

Maybe this is just some lame way for the publisher to say the game will never be released. ^_^
