View Full Version : Race 07 demo is out JeffR 09-08-2007, 04:02 PM http://www.race-game.org/race07/download/demo.htm Frank N. O. 09-09-2007, 12:32 AM Due to kneepains I can't use my wheel and pedals so could someone tell me if this version has any better feedback of how the car's grip is doing than the first one? I tried that game with the G25 but I couldn't sense anything about where the limits of the car was before it actually understeered at which point there wasn't much to do about it, so it was extremely hard and unrewarding to drive for me, plus those cars don't sound like much, and after GTR then there's not much feel of immersion with those sounds. Frank Chaul 09-09-2007, 01:42 AM "Demo hosted by Atari"... And the top menus on the site only work in IE.. hmm. and it's yet another Simbin-thing. Now that I can actually read what it's about in IE; 300 cars on 32 real life tracks. Does this figure include all the different teams in open wheel racing and other classes with basically the same chassis? Anyways, it still seems like a fun game and I'll download the demo some day. Unless, it's one of these 7-day-tests Atari pulls off.. Edit: A new controller interface making driving with a joypad, keyboard and mouse more involving.. I really don't get how do you drive with a mouse. It just seems wrong, but LFS has proved to me that they are even faster than racers using wheels. :p It's annoying me up to the point of wishing they did not have such an option. Edit2: I just downloaded and installed it. And, then Steam wants to download another 500 megabytes before letting me play? wth? "ready to play in 50 minutes" :p Slow server too, downloading very slowly.. -otkeys 09-09-2007, 04:17 AM A tip for U guys: Use Boomtown for the DL, is fast :_ )) http://download.boomtown.net/da_dk/articles/art.view.php?id=72052 Stig / Hotkeys Chaul 09-09-2007, 06:36 AM Does anyone have another tip on how to change game resolution? I accidentally picked a 4:3 resolution on a wide screen monitor and now I can't find any option to change it to a proper resolution anywhere. :p Edit: Ok, I figured it out. There is a config.ini under Steam installation directory\<profile name>\. Delete that and it'll let you set it up again. There are no resolution in-game. :p Edit2: Doh... If you start the demo through Steam, you get the option to either launch the demo or the video and language setup. :p jtace 09-09-2007, 06:48 AM keep the info coming guys I might have to download it and try it out later today. :) Chaul 09-09-2007, 09:07 AM If you race against the AI, I strongly suggest you increase AI performance from 80%. In my first race, I ended up beating them by a minute and in the 2nd race by 1 minute and 30 seconds. I tried Seat Leon in Anderstorp. 13+13 laps. What was amusing was that Tiago Monteiro's lap record on this track is low 1:50's.. I beat it on my second lap and in the end I improved enough to beat the lap record by 8 seconds.. wth? :? Anyways, I like the way the force feedback gives me good feeling of tire grip. At the start of the race I could feel the rear end slipping, and on the last laps I was experiencing understeer. With default setup.. It's very much fun driving on the limit here. :) I may have had some helps on because I was driving with everything on defaults, except that I changed automatic gears to manual, so it was very forgiving and it was fairly easy to recover from a slide. I don't know about realism, you tell me, but it was fun. Edit: Funny how people predominantly race at Brands Hatch even though Anderstorp would be more fun, imho. :p One tip I have, switch to slicks instead of the default hard wets on wtcc cars. :p I didn't realize that until I raced online and was still 8 secs/lap too slow at Brands Hatch. Wazza 09-09-2007, 04:25 PM Chaul, you race LFS also? I've tried mouse play recently, as I'm in the UK for several months, and no point buying a new wheel. I'm hopeless with mouse, don't know how the others do it! Demo looks good though for this game Chaul 09-09-2007, 05:00 PM I have the LFS S2 license but I have not really trained. I hardly know any tracks and I am way behind everyone else even if I did. I don't know what gives. I mean, it's not very fun to race when you lose 5 seconds per lap no matter what you try. Baritone Black 09-09-2007, 05:50 PM Where are the system requirements? [MC]Heiliger 09-10-2007, 01:33 AM Aye Chaul, don't care much about the far away front with incredible times. Just be happy if you don't finish at last. That's what I'm. :p After a few thousands of kilometres of racing you'll have a good chance to race for the podiums. In my eyes that's very challenging. And if you start with different combos later you'll learn the corners and the cars' speed/reactions better. But if you want to drive seriously for a top time you should invest a few hundred laps at one car/track combo and test a lot of setups. About the demo, it's downloaded, but not tried out yet. Maybe this evening I'm in the mood. @ BB: As long as it's a demo you should try out how it runs on your rig, it doesn't cost you anything. :) Chaul 09-10-2007, 01:47 AM That was kind of my point.. I finish 5 seconds behind the last guy. :p Chaul 09-10-2007, 05:46 AM I managed to improve my time on Anderstorp WTCC 2007 to 1:39.986 but somehow my engine got damaged during the race. :D I don't know what the lap record is about, 1:50 yeah right, because even the AI can beat it by 6-7 seconds. :p chris 09-10-2007, 05:50 AM But that is real life lap records, where the cars are real, the track is real and the pain (or death) is real if you crash. -otkeys 09-10-2007, 08:08 AM Hmm,,,,,,,,,, how do you guys get acces to the Seat car ? My only option is the Formula car. Did I miss something here ? Stig / Hotkeys Chaul 09-10-2007, 08:12 AM There are two cars to choose from in the WTC 2007 class. A BMW and a Seat. I don't know are you trying to play online or offline. When you join a server that is set for this 2007 class, you get to pick the car as you connect to the server. Wazza 09-10-2007, 11:13 AM That was kind of my point.. I finish 5 seconds behind the last guy. :p Try a Redline Racing server, FOX on AS2 track - it's quite easy, but also very hard to extract the final few hundredths out for a WR time My time was once a WR for a couple of days, but with thousands of people racing the combo, and many day in day out, it's quite close racing. I haven't raced it now in 3 months, as I don't have the wheel. (last week when I checked, I was now 20th.. ^_^)Here's a video: www.warrenwilliams.co.nz/lfs_warren.wmv Chaul 09-10-2007, 11:27 AM Try a Redline Racing server, FOX on AS2 track - it's quite easy, but also very hard to extract the final few hundredths out for a WR time My time was once a WR for a couple of days, but with thousands of people racing the combo, and many day in day out, it's quite close racing. I think that was in LFS, right? lol But, then they started banging on walls beating my record by a second or so.. Yea, thanks but no thanks. I lost interest. Wazza 09-29-2007, 10:25 AM I saw Race 07 in action at Brands Hatch. They were demonstrating it, but weren't giving spectators I go. I really wanted to rip up Brands Hatch in a touring car! Wall bangers? ^_^ - yeah terrible isn't it. :p |
