Okay maybe I've always been crazy anyway but dig this.

Crazy #1
I have used NFS Wiz for all it's releases and Viv Wiz for many releases before then. I still have Viv Wiz 3 somewhere on a back-up CD.

For years I've always had to write the file extensions in when exporting from a viv file. All of a sudden (yesterday) NFS Wiz 5 starts including the file extentions itself and it still is today. I have used it constantly every day for weeks on this Hard Drive and nothing else has changed except the vehicles I have been editing. So why is it all of a sudden doing what it should have done for years? Now I have to rewrite the tutorial to say that it does include file extensions..... some times..... (just wait 4 years).

Crazy #2
As I said I am editing a shitload of new vehicles for HS but Gawd only knows why the changes are not showing on the vehicle I am testing. I race against the same vehicle and my changes are shown on that "Opponent's car" but not the "Driver's car" (truck in this case).
I only have it in one folder and it is definately the same "ONE & ONLY" truck.

Has anybody else had this or even heard of it? I will reboot now and try it again to see if the changes made show on both the driver's & opponents (suppodely) identical vehicle.
Wait on, rebooting will make no difference as the major changes were made yesterday and I have had the PC off for several hours while I slept and then again for half an hour or so when I showered earlier today.

Okay, I'll admit, it must be that I have gone wacko. Nothing else (logical explainations or theories) makes any sense.

Oh, and another thing. Crazy # 3. I edited the sound files for my new vehicles and they were working fine yet all of a sudden the horn will not sound in any of them. I thought okay I must have screwed-up somewhere along the line but lastnight I tested unedited EA cars and although I heard all of the other egine & gearshift sounds, there aren't any horns. I even reassigned the horn key twice to new letters (keys) but still not a single horn sound.

Talk about getting in the thick of shit.

Any ideas, suggestions, prayers would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Okay I rebooted and tried again but no change. Then I discovered this.

http://totalnfs.net/temp/doubletrouble/aha.jpg

Not sure if it shows clear as my monitor is very dark, but the truck has been listed twice... using the exact same name and only being in one folder with one CAR.FCE (no upgrades i.e. "CAR1.FCE", "CAR2.FCE" & "CAR3.FCE"). Strange or what? So I thought maybe I should delete the backup "BAK" file NFS Wiz produces. It's outta here now but I just tried the game again and still have the double up in both "Driver's Car" & "Opponent's Car" menus.

Check out these pics of the menus or MORE SO the other two pics numbered 3 & 4

Notice the vehicle is listed twice with the exact same name.

Look at the rails on top of the tanker. Pic 3 shows the old rails using alpha channels to give the see-thru look where as the new one of image 4 shows the actual polys railing on top of the tanker.
Weird or what?

If I could deliberately do this we may be able to crack the 50 car limit. heh

More than 50 cars? That would be huge!

You can install cars by putting them under savedata/cars but i dont think that is the problem. more likely is a serial conflict or a reinstall is necessary. Obviously it shouldn't show up twice unless it is in there twice, you haven't edited the wrong car.viv and made two by accident?

Oh, and your other post about interior mirrors, i believe it is controlled by the smoothing group, although i usually don't change the shape, i have re-done other parts completely and not effected them.=[

Eddie, sorry to raise any hopes mate, but I couldn't repeat it if my life depended upon it. The thing happened on it's own accord.

Thanks Kev, it's a possibility but it is only installed the once and if I had deliberately tried to install it in another folder with the same name it would cause errors, would't it.
It's just part of the crazy hay-wired way my system is running lately.

I have already thrown my PC knowledge, understandings and logical rationings out the window. This system defies all we ever knew of computing. Johnny 5 is alive.

On the plus side Car Cad isn't giving me the "blue screen of death" every time I exit from it (like it had done for weeks). Infact I haven't had one single blue screen in two days compared to 20-30 per day. Had to reboot each time too.
Car Cad is also keeping it's ".PRT" extension when I extract parts saving them to parts of the same name.
Like with NFS Wizard adding the file extensions, it never use to do that..... ever!
NFS Wizard even does it for the unsupported Careng.CTB & .LTB. Bloody amazing!!

I have spent over 10 hours straight on the dash today That is on top of what was started yesterday. Dang tacho needle decided to play silly buggers with me and I'm still chasing my tail with it. Needed a break so here I am.
Why didn't they make a version of Dash Cad for HS? Dang I really liked that little program. -^
Then Viv Wizard also had accomodated needle adjustments for NFS 3. Dang.
