Ken's using a game engine called Torque - here's a screen shot from one of the tracks he's working on for beta:

The game is coming along nicely, and some great car models are being donated to the cause by the community. Our parts guys are ready with a selection for beta. I'm working on the radio chatter - the motormouth of motorworld... There's a chat room now, working much better than the first one did!
Pretty soon we'll be testing this all out. Hope to see The Crew from Racerplanet there!

Looks nice, I hope it actually gets going, at least with you guys/gals here I know there are at least going to be some friendly people there (with the last couple of NFS games then it seems like it's all F'n'F gangsta-wannabes and that just doesn't make for a good community imho). Btw, what does a Ford GT40 mk2 come under? Exotic or Muscle? Actually it was based on a english design, but to my knowledge then Carroll Shelby came in and assisted the development at some stage, and us engines were used.
On the other hand I'd be perfectly happy driving a 65 GT350R or 67 Super Snake (GT500 with the optional Cobra engine, only 1 car ever made, has unique tripple blue stripes over white body).

Is the Torque engine modified by the crew or is it stock? I've tried the demo version of the engine some years ago.

Edit: I just registered at the MWO forum, I assume Weasel is [DC]Roadweasel right? I'm not completely sure what referrer is used for but I guess it's to list who brought in new members so I listed your nick in that spot (I'm not completely sure who else from here are members of the forum).
I just have to say this: Am I the only one that find it funny that there's a member called Supradrifter in that forum? ^_^

Greetings
Frank

So far our community seems to think the Ford GT is muscle. Once the poll is done running we will decide rather or not the model will be included in the car line up.

Torque has been heavily modified using the SDK. Currently we have 3 programmers. One is working on the user account system that will integrate into our forums. The other is working on vehicle physics and is currently working on the simulation end of how the vehicles handle and respond.

Thanks for the reply, I'll be checking out the MWO forum and posts when it gets back online

we've out grown our server again - we're amid-move today! Should be back up soon though, and ready for almost anything with our new home on the web! Nice to see you Frank, and all the other familiar racerplanet names who have joined our MWO adventure!
And yes - I'm still the weasel just using my full name now, [DC]RoadWeasel.

Man I just read the first line on the temp page, and I guess that's Ken's humour right? Especially after reading about the demise of Route 66 Online on the forum posts at MWO and from old members there (although I still don't know who DC is).

I've got some questions and ideas when the forum comes back, and when it comes back then feel free to change my name to [DC]Frank since I assume all DC's have their title written like that at MWP right?

Btw, I've just spent a lot of time driving my impulse buy after reading the MWO forum, a Logitech G25 and holy heck in a handbasket! Richard Burns Rally and this wheel is pure heaven! For the first time I've finally tried a FF that treats fast counter-steer at oversteer realistic with supersmooth fast countersteering possible! And those metal pedals aren't bad although I still constantly try to brake using the clutch pedal! ^_^ Btw for those that read this and want to try the G25 with RBR then remember you need to update the game otherwise there is no FF for the G25, unlike the DFP btw.

In rFactor (that came on a CD with the wheel, and with a custom Logitech livery when you start) the FF sadly didn't feel any different than with the DFP wheel, it still fought when I tried to balance oversteering but maybe that's just the geometry in the cars I tried so I'll try the PCC cars.

The gearshift isn't that bad although it's light, and sadly the sequential mode didn't feel right, when clicking forward it partly locks into the gearlock so I don't use that, and reverse is push down and then into sixth which requires some precision due to the lightness of the stick, but overall not bad indeed!

If I can be of use as a tester, especially in terms of physics then just tell me where to sign up (I did read that all posters are auto selected but I read there are over 1000 members and do all become testers?).

Oh yeah, I also tried GPL but the FF didn't work at all there, it was just tough to turn either way :(
