I set this time of 37.86 on Hickley Field today, a track which is supposedly 8.1 km long,

I thought that 38 seconds was way too fast for me to have travelled 8.1 km's , so i did a little calculation:

Speed (m/s)= Distance(metres)/Time(seconds)

so my average speed around that track shud have been:
(8.1km=8100m)
speed= 8100/37.86 this comes to 213.946metres per second (m/s)... which is insanely quick, to put that into km/h it comes to:

(213.946/1000) x 3600=770.206km/h!!!

(divide by 1000 to convert the metres to kilometres, and multiply by 3600 to convert the seconds to hours)

an average speed of 770km/h is obviously way beyond any speeds in the game (or real life in those kinds of cars), so there has gotta be sumthin seriously wrong with the distances EA claim that their tracks are

PS> i observed this on other tracks too, but didnt bother to do the calculations, maybe another time..

PSS> my average speed was 252km/h, so the real distance wud be (d=st):
252km/h= 252,000m/h= 70m/s
so 70 x 37.86= 2650.2

Therefore, the real distance of Hickley field (according to me anyhow!!) is 2.65km :)

EA obviously following the ' close enough for government work ' formula again.

" .....it kinda looks like 8 km...only 2.6 ? Close enough......."

hehe, nice catch. I try not to look at details like that because I know they're gona be off. :) I bet it's chalked up to getting a "sense of speed". ;)

i guess this kinda thing doesnt really affect the game at all, but it wud b nice if they gave slightly more realistic distances, just to see how far u went for example
