steering/ lack of it issue

i got GTR recently, but i soon stopped playin it, as i cudnt take any corners in it at a reasonable speed, and hence my lap times were always at least 6 seconds slower than the computer's, the cars turning circles just seem to be too big to make the corners, or more likely its just me, but can someone plz tell me what i am doin wrong?

PS> i have watched the computer do his perfect laps, and tried to copy it, unsuccessfully.

PSS> this is consistent for arcade, semi-pro and simulation :(

play with the vehicle setups - tire pressures, shock ride, gear ratios, etc. I don't have gtr but I did just get gt legends and found huge improvement in handling just in changing tire pressure.
