I haven't seen many posts about the Challenges yet, I like to do them when taking a break from my MW career, and also like the fact that, once you've beaten a challenge, you can still re-do it, just for fun. I remember back in the PU days, that I wished for this very same thing for the Factory Driver mode, I always found it a pity that you could never do an FD stage again after beating it.

It's also a nice opportunity to get a taste for cars that you haven't tried yet, especially if you're still really in your career. But one of the best things in them is the fact that you get to drive some of the traffic and pursuit vehicles. Using the Garbage truck or cement truck to plow through a roadblock and send SUVs flying is very satisfying. ^_^

Some of them are granite-rock-hard though. &( The tollbooth race with the brown minivan took me a LOT of tries to finish (talk about perfecting your driving line, all focused on losing as LITTLE speed as possible), and the one where you are in an old unwieldy cop cruiser, supposed to get away from 15 Level 4 GTO's is the only one I have 'skipped' so far without beating it.
Many races, especially Tollbooth ones, seem impossible at first, but you do manage to get slightly better with each try (the white SL500 and white Cayman come to mind). Currently I'm still stuck ate the Tollbooth with the silver Corvette (don't remember the exact number, I think 56 or so).

NFS-PU - I always found it a pity that you could never do an FD stage again after beating it. You could if you saved your game after each event, and reloaded it later.

For the NFS:MW challenges, don't forget to use speedbreaker, since in addition to slowing down time, it also increases grip and steering (also weight for crashing into things).

I have been playing with the challenges a little bit during my work day (finish a task, earn one attempt at a challenge:) ). It was strange to me how some of them could be so difficult, while others were a breeze.

Funny that you mention the minivan. I actually beat that one on the first try, but I am guessing that some other event that caused me to pull my hair out was easy for you.:D

I also had a tuff time with the old crown vic police cruiser, but I finally beat it after maaany tries.

I had the same experience with the SL500. It seems to handle like its got grease on the tires. What was strange to me was how difficult just one leg of tollbooth run can be, while the rest of the race can be easy. I was stuck on the silver corvette run as well, and it was the stretch uphill to the first tollbooth that caused me trouble and I had to take at least 10 runs at it. After that I finished with +15 or something

Thanks for the tips on the Speedbreaker, Jeff, it's one of the feature that I still don't use a lot.
Other than that, I'm sure I'll be able to beat all the tollbooths in time, as you always learn something from each attempt, but sometimes I lack the patience for more than a few tries. :p

If I try to steer with the speedbreaker, I often spin out after turning it off.

i used to find that i spun out lots when using speedbreaker, but i reckon that if u just steer only very gently (a steering wheel helps) the car doesnt spin much/at all

the challenges are great fun tho, back on topic, the hardest i thought were the cop chase in the lvl 1 PoS cop car, and the one in the minivan was hard enuff too,

its kinda kool the way they make up a little story thing about it, like in the minivan one, i think it was sumthin about a low-end blacklist racer set a record, and u wanna laff at his record by beating it in a minivan :)

but the best had to be the ones in the bin truck and cement mixer; altho evasion was quite difficult at times, and i felt that the cops were able to push u around too much, considering u were in a huge truck..

yup, thats one of the easiest challenges in the game imo, totally pointless and a really poor attempt at makin it hard, done it on my first try both times, and second time round, it too me like 2 mins..

In the big truck challenges, you have the new option of pinning a police car against a wall and crushing it to immobilize it.

I had that too, with over-steery cars like the Gallardo, Cayman, Elise, I really had to learn to adjust to that with very subtle steering inputs. I like to use Speedbreaker now for steering trough Gas stations, and when approaching Roadblocks; not only does it buy you time, but it "zooms in" a little so that you can see easier where the spike strip and weak areas are.

@Jeff: I cannot thank EA enough for giving us those challenges, I've re-played them more than any other. ^_^ Maybe one day there'll be a hack that will let us use an 18-wheeler for that.

as i progressed thru the challenges, once i got the chance to drive civie cars, i was just hoping so much for the chance to drive on of them articulated trucks, i mean the inertia and momentum of such a beast wud just be unreal for cop chases!!
