As with any game there is no shortage of strange happenings with Most Wanted. I invite you to share yours here.
A few of mine:
I finally finished with the Blacklist a few weeks ago, and since then I will jump into a pursuit when I need a distraction from work. During one pursuit I was on the highway that loops Rockport, and just as the cops lost sight of me I was surprised by a spike strip that I could not avoid. I rolled over it, flattening all four tires, but due to my high speed I coasted for a while. I came to a stop right under a bridge, and the circling helicopter could not find me. The roadblock behind me eventually disappeared and I was left alone, hiding under a bridge with four flat tires, my cool down indicator winding slowly downward. After a 1.5 minute wait that seemed like an hour, an SUV spotted me. It rolled up and busted me with only like 5% remaining on the cool down period.
The second time, I encountered one of those impossible roadbocks – spikes to the left, SUVs two deep on the right. With 6 cars behind me I had no choice but to try it, so I plowed through the side of the middle SUV, shoving it out of the way and throwing me to the left where I landed on the spikes. I continued forward dragging two flat back tires. To my surprise all six of the corvettes chasing me crashed into the SUVs and came to a temporary halt. I crawled around the next corner and turned right finding no place to hide. I did a slow u-turn and crossed the street, noticing now that two corvettes were on the move again and coming my way. I ducked into the sewer/canal system and limped to the bottom of the hill. The corvettes continued past the canal entrance and I escaped with inches to spare.
The catch up feature: I noticed what seems to be a strange feature of the catch up mode. I was racing (I think) Ronnie, who seems to crash a lot. He plowed into a car a fell way behind, so far behind that I suppose the normal catch up would not have worked. Instead, as I was crossing a bridge Ronnie’s car suddenly appears on the retaining wall in front of me wiggling and falling to the road surface – he had “climbed” the wall from the street below! While racing another blacklist racer I was ahead by a wide margin, and as I drove uphill through the prison complex I glanced at the map. Obviously you can take the shortcut straight thru the prison by driving between the buildings and taking the tiered jumps. But as I looked at the map I noticed that this racer was taking the shortcut – uphill!

Yeah, I don't care for the "catch-up feature". It's purely B.S.! I think that once you are ahead of your competition, you should be able to stay ahead of the competition without them being able to "miraculously appear" near or ahead of you - when you KNOW you've outrun them!
I hope that in future development EA will really listen to us - the buyers of their games!

Something else: I am sure that this has been fairly obvious to most, especially the 3D modelers among us, but there are areas of the map that are essentially identical - like the prison complex and the hospital which both have the same buildings, roads, and elevation changes. This isnt a complaint just an interesting observation, and I know that modeling such a large environment is made simpler with such tricks.
Are there other identical areas that you have noticed?

I like this game because of the fact that pursuit races are rarely the same, it is not yet on the level of Rockstar's GTA series as far as freedom of gameplay, but it offers possibilities of some memorable moments. :D
One of my favourites is when I had been trying to win the necessary Milestones in order for Blacklist Challenge #2 for several evenings in a row, constantly getting busted and even got 2 of my cars impounded for the first time during my career. At the time, it almost seemed impossible to beat.
Finally I had been able to evade long enough so that I had ALL 4 milestones achieved, and there was only one black GTO left. We were both on the parking garage directly next to the football stadium in Rockport City, and realizing how close I was to winning, I planned to carefully ram the GTO until it broke down, then continue to hide in the Safe spot in that same area, out of sight from any helicopters as well. All was quiet on the radio, it was just me and him; like a standoff with cars, like something out of Ryan 'O Neil's movie The Driver (1978). :D constantly circling each other, I kept doing handbrake turns, weaving through the concrete pillars, hitting the more and more damaged looking Cop until it would give up the ghost. This took more tries than I imagined, but I had all the time in the world. I was almost cheering out loud while doing this, I wish I could have saved it as a replay.
At last, the smoking GTO collapsed, and immediately I moved towards the area where I expected the safe spot to appear, so I could quietly sit out the cooldown meter and finally beat this stage. The next second, out of nowhere a white Corvette slammed into my left flank, rudely awakening me from my victory dreams. more Level 5 corvettes spilled into the garage, and then I realized I had not paid attention to the Backup indicators in the middle of the screen, and at the exact moment the single black GTO had 'died', the Cavalry arrived in the shape of 25 fanatical Level 5 cops in a very confined area. =(( I tried to do another movie-inspired 'last stand', but it was no use, the cars piled on top of me, and it was over.
A few days later, I managed to beat this stage and challenge Bull for the"#2, but wasn't nearly as epic as then. ;)

Ouch!
That was definitely a heartbreaking experience! Sometimes it seems that the cops are programmed with a little vengeful streak. You have strategy that works with them over and over again, and finally they just decide to squash you.:D
I remember once that I was attacked by so many cops at once that by the time I was busted I was actually parked across the rooftops of two cars unable to drive off because we were surrounded by something like eight others.^_^

The catch-up feature is totally unfair and irritating. The AI should not be able to cheat. Try the trainer and use the unlimited NOS, drive perfectly, and they can still catch up with outrageous speed!

The "rubber-band" effect in MW is the worst in any NFS so far, and it definately takes away from the enjoyment of the game IMO, because it makes me feel like I'm competing with a scripted sequence rather than AI opponents. It's one of the bigger gripes I have with this game.

I just had that the other day, when I was doing the White SL500 vs. Level5 cops Challenge again, just for fun. So many of the white Corvettes were throwing themselves on me that they managed to shove themselves under me, then kept on carrying me over their heads for several hunderd yards, as if they just won a World Title, and I was the Trophy! ^_^ ^_^

The trainers that include a "never busted" option make the cop pile ups a lot of fun.

If you watch the map, you'll see a lot of areas that have exactly the same shape, even though they look very different.
Also, I think there are only five highway over/underpasses.

The catch-up feature is totally unfair and irritating. The AI should not be able to cheat. Try the trainer and use the unlimited NOS, drive perfectly, and they can still catch up with outrageous speed!Super fast acceleration just makes the catch up situation even worse. However, if you back off far enough before the finish, the AI will slow down. For my 3rd time through career mode, I used a trainer, and mostly used the super-acceleration function instead of infinite NOS. The AI really sped up if I kept using it everywhere, but were manageable if I used it sparingly.
With never busted and the super acceleration, I got through the events much quicker. Toll booth runs in challenge series and photo shoots in career mode were obviously much easier with the trainer. AI races weren't much easier (except for drag racing with no traffic), but the events were completed much faster, saving me a lot of time.
