performance balance: plain stupid

yesterday, i was playing MW and was doing a sprint, which i was losing to a Fiat Punto while i was in my Cayman S, doing 350km/h.

Am i the only one here who thinks that this kind of performance is ridiculus for a fiat punto?
the way i see it EA hav made the game too balanced, the cars seem to b designed so that any car can beat any other car on any track, and catch-up really helps to aggrevate this situation, by speeding up whatever PoS may b behind u to insane speeds

to the computer, it makes (seemingly) almost no difference what car he is driving; he WILL b able to keep up with u,( unless of course he has a convenient crash)

tbe cars should b arranged in classes, like in PU,so that we never hav to see the likes of a Carrera GT being beaten by a punto, which, if the drivers were matched evenly, wud be extremely unlikely in real life, if not impossible

Yeah that's catch-up mode for you, I understand why EA uses it as a game mechanic but it's still annoying. I keep telling them every year some of us PC guys would like a more simulation type game. :)

I think everyone who knows what the cars are and how fast they go would like to be able to pretend that they're really racing, rather than seeing little econoboxes turn into rockets and shatter the illusion.

Peformance balancing is a bad name for what is done when peformance matching is on (always on for ranked online, and usually on for unranked online). Instead of matching the cars in a race, the performance is set to the same as the BMW M3 GTR (nos, power, grip, steering), and actually most cars end up a bit slower than the BMW M3 GTR, making it the fastest with peformance matching on. Times at Rockridge + Union sprint track increase from under 1:35 with the Carerra GT or Elise to just under 1:40 online.

I'd love to see car classes back as well, but it seems EA wants to hold on to the idea that any car can be used to beat the game. I too, hate it when driving a top end car like the Murcielago or the CarreraGT and seeing it being overtaken by the Golf and Audi A3.

maybe they cud make the game so that u can play thru the storyline in classes too, Eg. if u choose a fiat punto, and played thru the entire game with it, then all the ppl u race against wud drive cars like this too, eg. golf, clio v6, etc.

but u cud then always choose a different car, eg Carrera GT, and then the opponents u race against wud drive similar cars, eg murcielago, For GT40, etc.

Yeah I'd like to see something different then what they've done recently. Some better car tuning would be really nice, the physics have been ok for an arcade game but the car tuning and ulitmate car balance has been pretty bland with no real choice in what you drive or reason to make any choices.

the physics sucked,you noticed how thebmw m3 rear end or bottocks were sliding when you were in a 55mph corner. it was kinda cool to control but totally unrealistic .)=) or the way the jumps wer 2 miles long they must have tottally screwewed the gravity.

well, i guess at the end of the day its an arcade game, and its all about fun, even if that means realism's out the window!!

i personally wud however like to see a more sim-like next nfs...

bmw m3 gtrWith a hack, 6 of 7 junkman (unique) peformance parts can be added to the BMW M3 GTR, and it ends up about as fast as the Lotus Elise. It corners about the same, but the steering isn't as sensitive as the Elise. I have a hacked BMW M3 GTR in my savegame:
