id asume a number of u hav gone far enuff in the challenges to get to drive the police vehicles, and after having done so, im at a complete loss as to how the cops do what they do during cop chases

the lvl 1 cop car for example, the handling is absolutely APPALING on this car when u get to drive it, yet the cops always can do brilliant corners, speeds, and they can turn around from high speeds insanely fast, doing 180s and changing direction accordingly with immense agility as u zoom past

so, am i the only 1 that thinks that the cop cars u get to drive are more than a little different/worse to the ones the cops drive??

No you are actually completely correct in your observation.I'm up in the 50 or 60 challenges and have to use a piece of crap Crown Vic against the level 4 GTo's.The Car is absolutely JUNK.Its the Evade 6 spike strip challenge.By the time I even get the first spike strip to show up (which takes forever) I have so many GTO's and Rhinos on my ass It is all but impossible anyways.And to think this is the same Crown Vic that is used against me in the lower challenge modes,that as you state handles like a dream,but only for the AI side of this team.

yeah the artificial intelligence for the cop cars playing against you use a totally different type of physics then you do, they have more of a "boundary" system where they can accellerate and turn so fast probably based on your heat level and thier car type, they don't have the same type of physics calculations to go thru as you do. Which saves your computer horse power but does leave some unrealistic, but still fun, cop chases.
