I made some .doc files a year or two ago and recently when I tried opening them (also with XP Home) it said "Can not open files for Word for Windows 6.0 files" there's just one thing, I don't have, nor did I ever have Word, I just use Notepad and WordPad. I also don't think it was a problem that happend around the upgrade from SP1 to SP2. I wrote down the suspension alignment from fading print-outs from the Orion's first owner that was in the manual folder and now I can't access them and there's no other way to get the info. I tried MS' own Word Reader but it said it was a corrupt file or something else was wrong. Any ideas?

Thank you very much, for the record I switched over to use .rtf format now and that seems to work well, although I don't know the difference really apart from the lack of the page-width limit.

I hope the same thing won't happend with the .txt and .rtf files I have but now thanks to you I have my specs :)

Thank you

It's basically a glorified .txt format but it's supposed to be well portable between platforms. As in, the document should look the same if opened on another computer.

Ah, thank you, and sorry for forgetting Wikipedia, they've had answers (that sounded correct) to many things I've needed answers to when I've found new things on the internet.
