Hey all, don't go into shock. :p

Just wondering if MW is worth spending my hard earned $$$ on.

I've d/l'd the demo and it looks ok, but it's a demo, so it only shows a limited part of the game.

For example, what is the on-line side of things like.

Is the interface good or does it bite the big one and is on-line gameplay the same/similar to off-line gameplay?

I think offline is great, I really enjoyed the career mode they have. Online is just ok, the interface isn't nearly as bad as it has been in the last game, but it could use a little work still. It's easy to find a game to race though, and I'd say online mode is kinda average, pluss or minus some depending on what you like or what bugs you the most. Just my thoughts. :)

I played it for computer, ps2, and xbox360 - I think that 360 is the best out of all of them. If you plan on getting the PS2 version expect NFS:Underground 2 with better cars and some new bodykits. Visually on PS2 its trash. On PC its good if you have a good video card. If not then you will be stuck playing it on low quality or high quality with tons of glitches and lag.

As far as gameplay goes. Its pretty darn fun. Pretty much the same concept of NFSU2 except you get chased by cops and you have to do certain things to race people. After you move up the career mode you will notice that it seems like you are doing the same things over and over again but as long as you know how to drive you will know what to do. The best part of the game is doing the bountys though. Just running away from Police Corvettes and SUV's - dodging roadblocks and spike strips - and crashing everything you can see. Tons of fun if you ask me.

The online is prety much trash for me though. I find myself getting lagged out of games, seeing cars glitching through objects, and getting blown out the water by sandbaggers. Even if you have a perfect connection you will still get a bit of a lag out of the game. Not too much fun online but offline is a hoot.

Bottline is - Online SUCKS - Offlines Great - Handling on cars SUCK - Cops are Fun - Races are cool - Gameplay is Great.

Hope that helps a bit. If you have a 360 then I say get it for 360 but if not then I'd say computer if you have a good video card. If you are forced to use the PS2 version then go ahead but its the minimum of all of them.

I've only played online once, wasn't overly impressed, but then I didn't spend much time playing. I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for an online game.

Offline is much nicer. There's less customization of the cars than UG2; MW is more comperable to UG1. The city is absolutely incredible, about half of it has similar scenery to Hometown from NFS3/4, the other half is a modern city like the central parts of UG2's city. And it's freakin' huge! I love it, i'll stick the MW city on par with the best NFS tracks from the old days.

They also added a bunch of new modes related to the cops. I'm not sure how many can be played in the demo, but they're quite alot of fun. In order to beat each opponent in the blacklist, (ie, progress through the career mode) you have to accomplish certain goals, like evading a certain number of spike strips or roadblocks. There are also regular races where to win you have to get the highest trap speed through a series of ticket cameras. These help break up the monotony of having to do race after race to win the career mode. (like UG1 was in particular) I would say this is the best career mode of the NFS series.

The physics were not impressive, worse than UG2. Once fully modified, the cars all have fairly similar performance. This is definitely not NFSPU, maybe not even NFS3/HS. I also didn't like the cop physics. Like catching up to me after they've pulled a u-turn - when i'm going 200mph. Even with that annoyance, I still consider the cops to be highly entertaining.

Anyway the city is just freakin' awesome, the car selection is cool, and the career mode is entertaining. As long as you're not after a game that'll keep you entertained for years - a la NFSPU - this is definitely worth it.

Hi there,

I ve been playin this game 4 nearly a month now. Completed Carrer mode upto 97 % n Challenge Series 40 %. The game s good as long as u have a decent 64 MB+ graphics card which s not more than 3 years of date. I have an ATI RADEON 7500 n tiz a very old card(nearly 5 to 6 years) n so i play it in low res with many frills turned off. In that itself i liked the game very much n am thinkin of buyin a new graphics card asap.

The COP AI s one of the best esp. when they get large in numbers n work together. The way the AI adapts with time s also mind-blowing. Also the Race types are many n thank god there s no DRIFT (i liked it though kind of boring when they become very tough).

Car customization s somewhat less compared to UG2 n somewhat par with UG. They have combined BUMPERS n SIDE SKIRTS into a single BODY KIT n there r not much Body Kits available 4 all cars esp. high end. Also no more changing the HEAD n TAIL LIGHTS. But the cars look more like the real counterparts.

The music Tracks all rock n the Videos r much real like compared to the Comic Book Style in UG2

I dont play ONLINE bcoz all i ve got s a DIALUP. So no comments on tat.

Overall I will rate this game as 8.5/10 (a 7.5/10 for UG2)

Great reviews guys.-^

When I finally sorted out the probs with my MS FF wheel it was worse than the keyboard. Not sure if it's the wheel, the game or me being so rusty. :D
So I resumed with the keyboard.

I stopped playing at Blacklist #5 (2/3 throiugh the career) about a week ago because the car suddenly turns at right angles and ploughs into walls or performs complete 360s for no apparent reason when racing. That was on medium difficulty using the key board.

My son Jono completed the career on his puter with the difficulty level set to "Easy". He also had some strange steering probs around the same Blacklist level but it was a few swerves and not the complete spin-arounds I was getting.

I wouldn't recommend it for LAN play as it keeps saying that it lost connection after ever single race. I don't think enough effort or thought went that way. It's a sad joke compared to other games that bare the EA logo (i.e. MOHAA/SP/BR) when it comes to LAN.

On the upside however, I found single player far less frustrating than UG and UG2. Even when I lost races I thought it was much fairer (more honest) than the two mentioned.
However there's still the sideswiping cheating AI cars at the start of many races trying to knock you out of contention before anyone reaches second gear.
Not unlike UG and UG2 you'll often find an AI more interested in swapping paint than actual racing. But as soon as you nudge back the others fly past. Catch them and the next contender tries to run you off the road. Meanwhile the race leader is almost off the map ahead of you and the first dude you swapped paint with is now running second. Not forgetting the AI who whiz past you then virtually stop in their tracks in your path.

Yeah I know it sounds frustrating, well it is, but at least I still have my keyboard in one piece with this game, unlike UG/UG2.
And even during your career you can still take a bit of a break by just cruizin' or doing some of the other events. This gives you a good chance to practice shortcuts and getting familliar with the route of you next race(s). It peeves me off when I'm leading and they (AI cars) all take shortcuts I never knew existed. =[

The cops are a treat in any game. But the dismal reaview mirror in MW lessens the impact of pursuit. When getting chased by cops I saw much more in the reaview mirror of "Driver" therefore Driver was heap more fun. And as for realism in performance..... FORGET IT!! Bloody VW Golfs and cop cars whiz past my worked big-assed V8 GTO, strapped to the boards (pedal to metal), in a straight line, whilst I'm forcing NOS down it's throat. :why: Huh? In their dreams!!

But all-in-all, it isn't bad and I will finish the career mode one day soon. I've been busy programming for a friend.

Nobody can really tell you what you might think of it. Some aspects of the game I'm not to thrilled about but my son, Jono, loves (i.e. Toll-booth events, where you race against the clock) and vice-versa. Opinions are like arseholes, we all have our own.

Well, currently I'm finding the game 'grows on you' despite the very limited choice of things to do.

I'll probably buy it down the track a little bit, due to the fact my trusty old import Camry decided to have a major hernia and do something exceedingly nasty to it's motor.

Dad reckons it's a blown head gasket, but I'm thinking it's done something more serious, like seriously damaged the head.

Can't start the engine anymore, it's 'hydrolicing' which means one of the cylinders is full of fluid, most likely water :(

Luckily I happened to be well off in the money department and after talking about the chances of fixing it and wether it would be worth doing it, decided a 'new' car would be in order.

I'm now the owner of one white '95 Lancer, front wheel drive and auto (I prefer rear wheel drive and manual) worse luck, but it was the right price and has a 3 year warranty :p

Remember guys (and gals), this is just a GAME and not a real-life simulator. So it's gonna be a bit cheesy. It was designed to be fun with enough difficulty to make you want to beat the crap out of your competition - beit the AI racers or the AI cops!

No simulation here.
