Please help with GPL

Hi all,

This is my first post so I'm hoping for a little beginner's luck. :)

Short but sweet: I can't get GPL to install and/or run properly under either one of Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Either it does install properly but won't continue past the game title screen (just quits into the desktop) or it's that it is complaining about not being able to write a certain file (can't remember which one right now). I've tried to patch the game with the 1.2 patch but so far no luck. I have also managed to install the game on my old computer using Win98 so it's not the game CD as far as I can see.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do to remedy the problem?

shound like one hell of a problem...

if it works on 98, and not past ME, it soundz like drivers.
get newest drivers for your MOBO mainly hard-drive, and for your 3d card. on winxp, try running the game in compadibility mode windows98.

also, chek the GPL website, or fansite to see if others have had the same problems and hav found a way to fix it.

another thought, u seem to be playing the game on another pc on win98, install 98 on the computer your having troubles with and see if it works there.
if not, some of ur hardware either istn supported, or has a fault
