Coolest website I've seen in recent times to advertise the plane Boeing steadfastly told us there was no market for. ;) Watch out for some of the dubious sounding facts and figures.

Engine housings look pretty cool with the angled ends, wing design looks strange.

So if the trip cost (for passengers) is 27% more for the A380 than a 747, yet seat/mile costs are 1% less than 747, wouldn't that mean a very handsome profit for airlines running the A380? ;) It'd be even more profitable if you fit it with 650-700 seats. :)

Well that was unexpected. The angled ends were developed to reduce noise, I just can't remember what company did it, maybe RR. It was tested on some of the smaller Boeings I think. The angled wings, that are also ultra-thin look like a hand-drawn concept and not based on actual technical drawings. Also not the front picture showing extreme angles also show the fuselage as being near totally square which it's not. The cockpit looks identical though, why couldn't they refresh that like the 787's?

Is it really a Boeing site at all?

It says at the bottom of the page:

Interesting looking plane. No orders for it so far. (neither as 747-Advanced or 747-8). It looks like it will be a last ditched effort to prevent the A380 stealing the entire market for super-jumbo sized aircraft. I have a feeling this might end up in the same predicament as the abandoned Sonic Cruiser.

These engines are GENx engines. The Airbus A350 will use the same ones IIRC. While the A380 uses (very quiet) RR Trent 900 and Engine Alliance GP7200 engines.
