I was outside tonight, and happened to be watching a Boeing 777 fly overhead.
But then not long after it flew overhead, a small fast moving, and quite loud plane with a very distinctive rotating red-beacon on it came flying over in quite a hurry!
It was unmistakably an F111, one of our Mach 2.5 strategic bombers. :) Very nice to see one.
It was so noticeable because nothing else has a beacon light on it similar to that, and nothing else is moving that quickly so soon. In flight time, I'm about maybe 4 minutes from Sydney airport and this F111 was already going really, really quick. :cool:
Shame I didn't have my DV camera ready or I would have got it on video. Being in camouflage brown/green colours they are very hard to see at night. It only had the very bright red rotating beacon on, no other strobe lights of any sort were on.
