I've tried this in FS but it didn't seem to do anything (it was MelJet's 777 V2). I think I saw a video of one of the big US Air Force transporters that could reverse using thrust alone, and you could see it sucking up moisture vaports from the damp runway in the process, illustrating the massive power of the engines.
From the airliner-photos I can see that you activate reverse-thrust by pulling the main thrust-levers all the way back and then raise the reverse-levers, does this mean it's automatic/electronic the amount of thrust the engines use while in reverse? I'd thought of a kind of thrust-reverse for my sportplane concept with ducted fans but I'd thought of just having a button on the thrust-lever to open the louvres (depending on how the system would be made) so it could quickly go in reverse for fast stops on runways.
Speaking of brakes, what's the difference between a spoiler and a dive-brake? Isn't it basically two names for the same general idea, to increase drag so the plane can slow down fast (although with different designs and positions)?
Edit: I just thought that since this was primarily for real life flying and not simulation I should've probably posted it elsewhere but I hope it doesn't create a problem since simming was also a part of this.
