Hi

Dunno if any of you can help, but NFS: Porsche 2000 just decides to crash every time i go to 'Race'. It doesnt matter wether its in evolution, factory driver, or just single player, and it doesnt have anything to do with the profile. I tried re-installing, deleting all regisry keys, creating new players, updating, and nothing helps.
The thing which gets me, is that it was working perfectly yesterday! I turned on my beast 2day, and it just crashes.

im running winxp - pro, with the memory leak fix, and i do not get whats happening.

any of you experienced this on any other OS or system config.
thanx

Please give me a more specific overview of your system configuration. (EG Processor, Graphics card, RAM etc, anything you may have changed on your computer since NFS was last working.)

Also, in Windows XP Pro, please press CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose the performance tab. Then tell me the following information:

ok,
wwell i9mnot @ my PC at the moment, so i cant give u the page details, but my system specs are:

-AMD Athlon XP 1700+
-Asus A7V - Bios Version 1010
-256MB PC133 SD-Ram
-Nvidia G-Force2 MX400 (with latest drivers 28.32)
-Hercules Gametheatre XP
-Intel Pro+ Network Adapter
-Pioneer DVD-Rom (CD in this drive), Ricoh Burner (also tried in here)

um, im sure I changed nothing when it last worked, so it seems VERY strange that its not working, ill try sum other driver 2nite when i get home, see ifi t changes anything. also try sum tweaks with RivaTuner.

otherwise, im stuped, ill post the Page details 2nite, if i get a chance.
thanx

Hmm, still, very strange.. The problem is obviously a video card problem, since you get a black screen. If their are sound card troubles, then NFS Porsche 2000 should still load, but, mute (without sound).

Obviously, the video drivers may be the problem.. Maybe you have to go back to an older version maybe? (NVidia I believe has dozens of different drivers available to use).

But, be certain you haven't changed anything since NFS Porsche 2000 was working. If you have, change it back, and see if any difference occurs..

I have to wonder though if 256mb RAM is just a little low for running Windows XP Professional.. I presume you use this computer for work as well (considering the network adapter, or, maybe you have a high speed net connection through the ethernet adapter).

Maybe you should consider upgrading to 512mb ram (which is what I have). I find that ideal for memory hungry applications.

mm, my pc runs fine

its not soo much a balck screen, as a dumping to the desktop, with a little lopping of the sound, which im guessing is a result of the crashing.... ill stick in another 256 stick, and see how it runs... and ill try a previous, or even newer detonator drivers and see how she goes...
ill will still post the page detail in a few hours...

thanx

i figured it out

installed new driver for my psx-pc pad, and as porsche selects the steering wheel/ gamepad befour the keyboard, it tried to load it up, and because it wasnt conencted fell over.

i tried new nvidia driver and old ones and it reulted in the same, and i was about to reisntall sound driver when it hit me, gamepad, removed drivers and works again...

sorry to get yaz all involved..
