This race might be an interesting one for good reasons.....

Seems as though Ferrari has got some reasonable car speed (fastest 1st sector times, and highest straight line speeds by a very narrow margin).

I predict Renault will win. But if Alonso should lose his win on the last lap, I predict he will be fired from the team in the same nasty way as Jarno Trulli.

The Williams team appear to be having a disastrous race weekend. Wasn't Magny Cour where they were promising these big aero-changes for their car? Those were supposed to bring much improved performance.

And I wonder if Montoya will crash into someone on the first lap? )=)

If nothing goes wrong Alonso will win that race. Lets hope something goes wrong :D

SchuMacher just said that he is not really happy that Kimi had to move back 10 spots. He said he would have preferred Kimi attacking Alonso from the start ;)

And as Murray Walker said, "anything can happen in Formula 1 and it usually does". ;)

The Minardis might do okay at this race if they are reliable enough. The latest Minardi car has good speed on the straights, even if it doesn't corner that well.

I'm wondering if the Ferraris will have poor starting performance. In previous races both Ferraris have been slow to get away from the grid.

Exactly. Another farce! F1 is stupid, silly, hopeless, whatever else you can think of.. ;)

Shouldn't we be considering penalties or something for the winning team to slow them down? ;)

I didn't watch, as I was into the race today... Maybe its because its so damn early here, and I went out from 10 last night to 3 in the morning, and hasn't slept yet...

And the feed (Star Sports) wasn't that good...

Watching the Highlights, Holy Shit, What a Start..... :HB:

It is just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice to see Ferrari TOTALLY stomped all over by Renault, although it is not the team I support. Alas, Williams got toally destroyed again.. but hey, thats motor racing :) But it was wonderfull to see Micheal Scumacher's predection of "We are looking strong" to be proved absolutely wrong. And yes Chris, you are always right ofcourse... it is an absolute farce. Let me go and enjoy the result with a few cold ones :)

I was joking around about the farce bit. ;)

I'm no Renault fan I admit. I hate the way they fire their drivers. That was really rough what they did to Trulli. Sad to see what has happened to Williams. :( Disaster, and bad for Australian F1 fans, if any of them still support Webber..

Bit of a hot ride for Webber too I hear.. Something like what happened a while back at Jaguar.

What happened on the start, I missed that bit. Seemed that nobody hit anyone, because there was not pit-stops.

Good race.

I watched it, then went to bed, and haven't been able to sleep for last 45min, so I've come online, in the hope I'll get tired!

I don't like Renault either, but like the driver, Alonso.

My favourite is still Kimi/McLaren, and with his result today, from 13th, clearly shows, he has what it takes. Just needs to stay up there. Silverstone, should give McLaren an edge.

Chris I know you were kidding mate... I was just yanking yer chain :). Ferrari did look pretty strong in qualifying, I must admit, I was FULLY expecting them to be a lot closer than they actually were... I was ready for Schumi to be on the top of the podium, but I am glad it didn't happen that way, but I was destroyed about Willams performce today. I was hoping it was just teething trouble with the new Aero package, but it looks like that underlying "BMW" issue has pretty much screwed em.

Still, I am hopefull that ONE of the williams drivers will get on the top step at some point this season :)... But yeah, Webbers "Warm arse" problem, he had that very same problem at Jaguar IIRC... but Heidfeld pitting 6 times, man, that wast just bizarre! I wonder what the hell was up with his car?

I wonder what would have happened if Kimi didn't have that 10 place penalty... Still, bloody good race :)

I was hoping Kimi would win myself, they have some very good car speed. I find F1 not very exciting at all, I watched the race and really, only thing that impresses me is how fluid the car movements are, nothing else.

chris
07-03-2005, 09:15 PM
Yeah, it wasn't really an interesting race. The field got spread out and apart from a couple of close calls on the pit lane exit, and Sato's "moment" that was pretty much it.

Martin Brundle had a good point in the commentary about the aerodynamics and the removal of the traditional undertrays.

Also, notice the podium presentation? Seems that Kimi is German, and Michael Schumacher is from Finland.. ;) When the mistake was noticed, the flags disappeared mighty quickly. ;) I've never seen flags drop so fast.

Have to wonder if Webber may have been better off to remain at Jaguar/Red Bull Racing than to go with Williams. His best hope is to go off to Sauber (aka the BMW works team).

Boring as the race might have been, the cars are still amazing to watch.

I was more talking about F1 in general, watching the V8's earlier in the day, there is always contact between the cars, but you get that more with tin tops, Formula Fords and Formula Holdens (or whatever they are now) are far more interesting to watch in open wheelers for me.

Not to mention there is way to much politics behind F1's.

chris
07-03-2005, 09:53 PM
V8's used to be endless politics. Remember the afternoon TV shows where all the drivers would sit around for an hour or more and argue parity adjustments. ;) Like Holdens having unfair advantages over Ford or the reverse. Even the fans would argue about that bitterly.
