Cool to know that even the real airlines sometimes use Flight Simulator 2004 for training purposes. In this case for ATC training using the PMDG 737NG plane (NG= New Generation, such as 737-800 and 737-900).

Wow, not bad indeed. I didn't read the whole thing, I just woke up, but the ATC in FS9 has been accused of being in-accurate, even for USA, so I doubt they use the AI ATC, they must be using live ATC via those wonderful programs you can add to FS9 :)

Vatsim is the online flying network. You fly under direction of real human ATC and real humans operating the virtual airports. It can be very real because many of them actually are ATC, or pilots in real life.
Not that I really have the time to do that, but they do accomodate most planes, even SST's are accomodated. The only demands are that SST's comply with usual arrival and departure restrictions. But once they up high and out of the way SST's are for the most part left alone to continue on their way.
Oh, Good morning by the way (if it is morning). :coffee:
jeez, that's amazing, I don't thinkg I'd have the patience for flying a plane on a computer for that many hours, but I can use my dual monitors to my advantage in the game right?

Hmm, not quite. The problem with dual monitors is that they have thick case edges surrounding the screen, so if you line up two monitors beside each other, you end up with a gap in between them, just where you don't need it.
You can buy specially designed flat-panel LCD's for this purpose however. :)

Also, flying a plane on a computer for a few hours really isn't that bad, if you have the real ATC. But then again, that's part of the reason I use Concorde so I can do long flights, without them taking too long.
Every time I go back to the standard 737 or 747, you see how much easier those are to control and particularly land. It's so much easier to land at 140kts than it is to land at 175-190kts.
I don't mind the gap, it's only about a 2 inch gap, and this is for fun, so it is possible?

Yeah, it is.
Set the Windows desktop to span across both monitors, then load FS2004, and you should be able to run it in the double width resolution.
It'll be a bit easier for when you are turning to intercept the final approach course. You can have the view set so that on one monitor you are sort of looking sideways (at an angle), while the other one gives you a forward view (at an angle).
That was the idea I had for it.
