I need help! I just got NFS PU...and it won't seem to run on online games. It just gives me that the host is running a different version or something. I added the game, opened a user account and everything else is done but I can't find the update patch. That sucks! I've been reading it all over but can't find it anywhere on the earacing site!!
Pls help!

Hi, ben_spawn!

Okay, there are a couple of possible problems and a couple of possible solutions.

Problems: One, is you've and and you're doing everything right, the EA Update servers may be down and you are being taken to the online servers after your computer experiences a "time out" not contacting the update servers. Solutions: 1) wait for the Update servers to come back online or 2) manually update your game to the 3.5 version using the file here: NFS-Porsche Version 3.5 Manual Update At NCOPS (http://ncops.racerplanet.com/index.php?section=downloads)
Another is somehow your game is corrupted or the Electronic Arts Game Updater software is missing or corrupted. Solutions: 1) reinstall the game and/or the Electronic Arts Game Updater software (making sure to copy your "SaveData" folder somewhere safe to preserve your saved game and then copy it back to your main NFS folder after you reinstall)
A third possibility is you've installed an improper No CD patch that is designed for the wrong version of the game. Solution: 1) restore your previous files from before the No CD patch (if you have preserved them) or 2) reinstall the game.

Thank you for the reply but sadly it didn't work!!!
Now my game won't even start. It's stucked at the loading page.

No I did not get any other game updates for it...so we can cancel out the third possiblity.

I haven't even updated this baby yet. It's a clean install. I guess the server is just running a newer version of it. But it wont run after I followed every single detail of the installation process...grrr!!!

HELP!

hi, ben_spawn...

I have to admit that I'm unclear about a few aspects of your second post. You say you followed every detail of the installation instructions. Instructions to what? To the manual update from NCOPS? or for the game itself. Do you mean you "unistalled" the game and then "reinstalled" it and followed all of the instructions?

I'm not sure, but at this point I would unistall the game and the "Electronic Arts Game Updater" (uninstallable through "Add/Remove Programs" from your "Control Panel") Then check to see if any of hte folders still exist, if they do delete them manuall, then try a fresh install of the game.

Oh, something just occurs to me, do you have dual optical drives (CD/DVD)?

EDIT: Oh, fantastic, ben_spawn! Hope to see you online soon then! What name do you run under online?

I'm [XR]Chey

i meant i followed the instruction manual to the patch thing.
uhm well anyways i reinstalled...and then i ran the multiplayer again.

it automatically connected...but it took awhile before the new window for update came out. I think I kinda close it last time coz I din't know lol =)

Well so I guess...now everything's running fine =)
I din't have to do the patch from the link you gave me...

u mean my online racing persona?
it's benspawn hehe =)

I'm looking for some help. I had the same problem as ben_spawn. When I tried the manual update the game wouldn't even start. I think I did the update, but the size was 1700kb or close to that. I am able to enter into the Multiplayer, but there are no servers for me to connect to. Do I have to wait until a server shows up or connect to one before hand? I don't know why I can't get hold of a server. Can anyone help?:(

Hi, Kwisatz Haderack!

I assume you have tried this multiple times... Just to tell you what happens, you click "multiplayer", then "internet games". Then it "checks for updates". Next your "account" and "password" login screen shows up, click "sign on" once those are filled out properly. It then shows a "connecting" window. Then you are taken to the "Multiplayer server selection" screen. In the center is a window that should list 3 servers:

Abovenet (CA) Server 1
Abovenet (CA) Server 2
Abovenet (CA) No Stats

Normally, when I do this with my Broadband connection, these servers display in 2-4 seconds. If I am using dialup it may take as long as 15 seconds. Sometimes they do not show up at all. So I go into the "options" screen and "back" out of it back to the "Multiplayer server selection" screen which attempts to again initiate the server display. sometimes I have to do this several times before the servers display. I'm not sure if this helps you, but I would love for you to be able to play online with us. Post here and we will see what else we can come up with.

Good luck, Muad'Dib!

Cheyenne,

You were correct when you described my problem. Unfortunately, the servers did not come after going back and forth several times. :( Is there a way to check if I am connect to earacing.com when I enter the game, or even just before hand?
