OK, i'm new here and I want to get into online racing but I have no idea of where to start or anything. I have POrshce UNleashed and when I click on the multiplayer thing it says I need to get a download for the updated version but the update never works. Where should I start? Do I have to join a group of racers or something?
WHAT DO I DOOOOOOOOO!!!!!????????????=[

you have to download the 3.5 update.. when I reinstalled Porsche Unleashed 4 months ago, it worked on the website, yet for everyone else it didnt seem to.. it is supposed to be auto update rather than manual...
but there is a link somewhere, which someone should post.. i dont know it..
anyway a couple of tips for when you do go racing..
in a game room or pit... listen to the leader.. it is their pit, their rules... most people run with collision and damage off... meaning you can drive thru other cars... i thought it was weird first time.
don't be impatient in the pits, such as yelling GO GO GO GO GO....
and finally.. HAVE FUN... and watch the pros... DC, XR, SK (meeee) LR, DR, UK etc...

OK, so I should still be able to race and stuff even though I have that nfs.car file that gave me the skid pad and took out the intro?

Yea I can race it all the time. It didn't take the place of a MC track though, the person who did it made room for it by taking out the intro to the game

I don't think you need to reinstall.
I registered and played for the first time last night, and at first had the same problem. Only, it was something quite simple - the updater takes a while to kick in. Approx. 3 minutes for me.
I executed the auto update install in the NFS folder, which seemed to set up fine. But clicking the icon does not work - I got some weird error. So I ditched that idea, and instead went back to the game.
In the game menu, after selecting "Multiplayer", "Internet Games", you will get the "A new version is available you must update before you can play" message.
Select Update Now, but give it time to kick in. Like I said, about 3 minutes for me. You can check that it is "thinking" by looking at the "Task List" (CTRL+ALT+DEL). You should see an entry there for EAUpdater (or similar).
And the file is approx 3.5 MB so depending on your connection, it can take about 15 minutes to download.
Anyway, I had the same problem, but managed to get through it fairly easily (but with some patience).
Give it a go. Hope it works. (And maybe we'll see you tonight?)

I did the same thing you did DaveR, but there was no server for me to connect to. What did you do after you got back into the game.

I know this is really off topic but I was wondering if muad'dib's SN came from the book Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune. I'm sorry if I bothered anyone by posting off topic. But I just had to find out.

Thanks,
