Hello all!
I just recently bought a copy of MBWR and now I am on holiday I can actually start getting into it. Although admittedly the going is tough since the whole game is in German or French ^_^, guess that's what I get from buying it on ebay!
I was just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some good MBWR sites to help kick me off. The out of the box game is great fun but I know there has been a lot of add on work done to it and I would like to play around with some of that, and maybe also get a race online sometime!
Cheers!

Hi and welcome to community :)
You can change game version by patching it with INT patch. You download patch, manually unpack it using winrar (or another compatible tool) and manually replace MBWR files with files from patch INT folder.

I am also new to WR. I had no intention of buying another game but I was passing a shop a couple of days ago and they were almost giving it away. I had a few loose coins burried in the depths of my pockets along with the lint, so I thought `why not?'
Acerlyte, I found the 1.6.6 patch with the no-cd fix is useful too. Just open it, v/check it and apply it. Do a google search. They are easy to find.
For multiplayer, read the quickstart tutorial http://hypothraxer.dyndns.org/wrmp/mptute.htm . As a guy who is also new, I found it all quite easy to set up. I am about 20% through career but online I invariably get my butt kicked =[ .
I am still searching for the download cars though . . .

Welcome all new World Racers
I think http://www.kabelverhau.ch/diverses/wr/ has all the addoncars for WR.
Another great place to find (also beta cars) is http://www.theborggaming.com/cgi-bin/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=27

Thank you very much for the advice and links guys, and a big thanks to Krom about the language version changing. Now I can really go the career mode in earnest as I can UNDERSTAND it all! ^_^
Once I have put a bit more time into the man game I reckon I will get out there and try my hand at some online racing! But I think I will be a lot like Jelly and have my butt handed to me many times :p, but such is the fun of online racing.

Hi. It's always great to see an experienced racer from another game come to WR,as I know you will get up to speed quickly. -^ By all means, play the offline Championships, but once you have gotten used to the weird menu set up,don't hesitate to try online for a lot of fun. One thing a lot of Noobs hve a problem with is finding out what car we are using. Most pits are same car as host,so once you see the "Cars" menu hi-lighted hit enter, then scroll down to the "Fellow Player" button ("Mitspeiler" in German)and hit enter again. You'll see all the other racers in the pit as well as what car has been selected.Don't hit the "Let's Go" button until you're sure you have the right car,ie what ever the Host has, usually. -^ BTW,if you hit the "Let's Go" button before you have the right car,you can only change it by leaving the pit,and re entering.
Have fun,and =see you out there.

One interesting thing I discovered after getting my butt handed to me, and before getting it handed to me again ( and again, and again, . . . ) was that the fast guys generally use automatic gears  . I have not used auto gears since making the switch while playing porsche, and I have come to rely them for more than just managing engine revs. Naturally I started wr with manual gears ( a horrible experience - there is something yukky about the gears in wr ), but I just assumed it was the same for everyone. So you can imagine what a shock it was to learn that auto is more conventional :why: . I tried it a couple of times online and I didn't suck as hard, but it didn't feel right. I think I have higher potential sticking with manual gears.
That was some information.

Its a bit of a gamble, with automatic you may get better starts as you dont miss shiftpoints but with manual gears you will be better of later in the game when autogears keep up/downshifting when going up some small hill.
I prefer to maybe loose a position or two at the start and have fun with manual shifting, but I am not one of the fast guys anyway

I have used auto gears for quite a while now,as they give me a good start and allow me to concentrate on where I'm going. :look: I used manual in NFS Porsche,as manual was faster in the older cars, and more fun really, but there's so much up/down shifting in WR that I just prefer to leave it up to the game to do that job.
