On January 1 2005 the V8 Superforum will be opened for registrations.
The forum wont be 100% complete for a few weeks after this, definately in time though for Albert Park race
I thought i'd give you the heads up now, if your interested register on the 1st January 2005.
Not that it makes a difference, but if you want to be the "first lot of registered members" thats the day to do it, and it'll only come once!
You will find the forum will be in its colour scheme but thats about it, so you wont be able to post until its officially released. I'll give you the address during the week, I'm just trying to see if I can setup a proper www address before new year
cheers

sounds cool, should be good!Just an idea, why don't wait until its fully working then open it? Then we can start posting straight away...but its up to you, I will still sign up on Jan 1st, if im around home.

yeah thats the plan but I thought for you guys if you were interested and wanted to take advantage of the 1st of the 1st registration date!
All I'm really waiting for is the domain name to be approved, which will hopefully be this week
No wounder my forum's so dead, you take everyone away from here :p
Y2kGoofball
12-25-2004, 10:09 PM
err no, it hasnt even opened yet so I couldnt have possibly stolen your people ^_^
I hope its not on the forums4free servers because they have gone downhill fast over the past couple of months so dont even bother making one through them, i hope you have your own server or another host or something.
Sounds promising, will it be similar to V8 Thunder?
Y2kGoofball
12-26-2004, 02:10 AM
ah no, this time its a professional server thats costing $$$
Hey I thought forums4free went down? I couldnt get into any F4F forum without a error - page cannot be displayed message showing
Anyways thats the way it is I spose )=)
why would you want to do that for? do you really have time for the maintenance and all?
Y2kGoofball
12-26-2004, 12:51 PM
yeah I do ^_^
yeah forums4free are as close to dead as you can get ^_^
Its kind of an on/off thing, go down for a week, work for a few days then go down again i dont know wha tthe deal is but they are sure dead.
Y2kGoofball
12-28-2004, 12:33 AM
yeah its not good
VQ thanks for the concern -^ The forums setup which is what takes the most time and effort - to do it properly
Once its running it wont take that much effort to maintain, its if it becomes as large as this community that it becomes a hassle for 1 to look after, but thats in the future

change of plans
Those RP members wanting a 01/01/05 join date to the new V8 SuperForum please let me know what username you would like and a contact email address
I'll register them on the 1st, then with a bit of luck the domain name will be activated a few days later. I'll let you know by email when the forums 'open' as well as your temporary password (which you can change later)
As murph fan said, why not wait till you guys can post, but before I let anyone post I want to make sure all the mods are done and working and the domain names there
VQ for me with a random pass and my vq at totalnfs.net email for me y2k.

success, my evil plan to suck you all in ... oh I mean ... lmao
Ok dude consider it done for you
I probably too should point out what it is this forum does
Well, V8 Supercars! Ive noticed a lack of fan based forums for the sport. Obviously theres the off topic things like collecting, online racing etc, but the bulk of it is V8 Supercars to discuss in detail rounds, races, incidents, history etc
What I will need tho to kick it off is a few "active" members (me included) to talk about different stuff. The problem is a forum dies when no ones talking, yet when its opposite and people are talking you interest "guests" who then register and start talking, they then start new topics and the community grows!
Anyway I'll see how we go but I cant see why it cant work if its done right :)

ok guys, you can remove your email addressess off the posts if you want (ive got them down)
The forums looking good to officially open this week, I'll place the order for the domain name Monday, it should be activated by Tuesday or Wednesday, so we might look at Saturday 8th Jan open.
I'll setup your accounts tomorrow and give you all the details via PM here at RP, and next week when the domains all sorted I'll announce it in this thread where to go
Obviously dont expect too much, currently theres 0 posts forum wide ^_^ . I am hoping for it to pickup when the teams start to release their liveries in 2005, because the roumers also begin then )=)

12-30-2004, 03:34 PM
change of plans again
I'll register you all tomorrow but the forums wont be open until at least the 2nd week of Jan as I am waiting on AVESCO / V8Supercars written permission to call it the V8 SuperForum
It's a good thing that your registering me
Don't know if i'd be sober enough tomorrow to do it myself :D
I also hope it takes off better as we need a dedicated V8 Forum for the fans of the sport - and there are a lot!
Cheers

as I said I'm just waiting for AVESCO to get back to work in the new year so I have written permission to use the name, although I cant see it being a problem
Y2kGoofball
12-31-2004, 02:18 PM
ok guys youve all been registered
Once I get approval from AVESCO to use the name (I'm sure it wont be a problem but I just want to make sure) I'll give you guys your login info ;)

cool can't wait, will it look quite official? Or is it JUST the name?
Y2kGoofball
12-31-2004, 08:08 PM
erm well 50/50
It cant legally have anything similar to that of the V8 Supercars website, so no images, no team logo's, no sponsor logo's, no layout etc because thats down right plagarism
But on the "official" layout it does look quite professional, ie not a 30 second bang up job
;)
Perko_Rulz
01-01-2005, 02:06 AM
no, it is a thirty ONE second bang up job.
Y2kGoofball
01-01-2005, 10:07 PM
well it is if your on dial up
Perko_Rulz
01-03-2005, 05:20 AM
what ever happened to ye olde broadband?
Y2kGoofball
01-07-2005, 02:21 PM
ye olde bored, hmm
nah it died big time. It began ok but then the owners of the server started playing round with it (the server) which upset everyones boards, which scared off alot of people, me included. As bo0 pointed out now their pretty much dead overall
Ok an update, well I payed for the domain name and its all gone through, so hopefully theres no objections from V8 Supercars about it, but I'm sure there wont be
murph_fan
01-07-2005, 03:17 PM
If you still haven't got an email back, then its probably no big deal to them.
But hopefully you get confirmation soon...
What are we talking about broadband? Aren't you on Telstra?
Y2kGoofball
01-07-2005, 11:00 PM
sorry I mis read what he was saying
Nah ye olde broadband is still in existance
What I meant was its a Thirty ONE second bang up job if your on dial up, the plot being the extra second represents the slowness of dial up
But I mis read what he wrote, I thought he asked about ye olde board, being the pilot board I had ... never mind ;)
Murph Fan yeah but the person I emailed (and I know its not the right person to be asking) isnt in their office till this Monday, so I'm just waiting for this week.
Perko_Rulz
01-09-2005, 12:02 AM
...started playing round with it (the server)...
lmao, good call ^_^
Ok, got it, dialup isn't that bad really.
Turboginge
01-09-2005, 02:26 AM
Isnt it
I am on dialup and have an absolute arseful of it
Anyone wanna send me broadband for my Birthday...its on the 23rd :D
What I meant was its a Thirty ONE second bang up job if your on dial up
You sure its not a thrity one minute bang up job? ^_^
Y2kGoofball
01-10-2005, 12:58 AM
well we used to have dialup at work until we moved and the boss had broadband installed.
Today for the first time since moving I needed to use the internet and was shocked at the speed difference ^_^
Anyway no mention from V8 Supercars / AVESCO yet, they've got till Friday 5pm otherwise the forums going online ready for the weekend
