Well, you can use the 3dsetup program, which should be in the same program group/menu listing as NFS Porsche 2000 (I presume that's what you're talking about).

Or, you can go to regedit (the windows registry editor) and look up NFSP2K's registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed - Porsche 2000

And then edit the line:

Thrash driver =

This option can be either DX7 or Voodoo2.

For those who are using Windows XP Pro and Voodoo 5 5500 then you'll have to make do with DX7...

May I direct your attention to Voodoofiles.com? Several 3rd party drivers there (x3dfx-c 1.08.04 and Voodoo Driver God's x3dfx-c-based 1.08.05, Amigamerln's 2.1 drivers and CA's 1.08.00 drivers) enable Glide mode in Windows XP--and that includes PU (trust me, I've tried). But direct3d mode I always liked better anway for a number of reasons. 1: I can alt+tab without crashing. 2: 32 bit colors. 3: It's naturally smoother for some reason without modifying any settings. 4: the gamma correction set in 3dfx tools actually works. Gamma is much better for me.

But I thought you might like to know that you don't have to be Glide-less in XP :) NFS2SE even worked in Glide mode for me. NFS3 and 4 had troubles, however. I had to use d3d for those.

i have two graphics cards, a pentium something and a software renderer. the pentium one is the best and the software one makes the windows go black and other stuff. i am talking about NFS 4 by the way

Matt: I never trust 3rd party video drivers... And besides, I can make do with DX anyhow..

It's your loss...

Actually the x3dfx drivers aren't really third party, they were created by Ex 3dfx employees after 3dfx went under. So personally I'd use them as if they were original drivers from 3dfx.

In YOUR START MENU, wherever NFS:PU is located, there is a "setup" or "Video setup" or similar.

It is very straight forward.

BTW. I never heard of a Pentium video card.

All I can think is that it's the old integrated video that came on some intel motherboards...
