I was vainly trying to keep up to Speed just now.(There is a driver named Speed, and he's damn good!) when i saw a familiar name in the chat window. It was none other than [XR]Keys, aka Stig!  -^ I really hope you like WR enough to stick around Stig! The tracks are phenominal, and when you add in some add ons(cars that is) not to mention the WR version of Normandie,it's a lot of fun! I had seen Sebi's pit earlier today but I was on my way out so I couldn't join.Someday we'll grab Fez,and Frank N O,and Corrado, and have a good old fashioned XR vs DC pit, just like in "you know what"!

Great meeting you to Rick, and yes, I think the tracks are awesome. In fact they were so great, that I didn't mind getting my ass kicked by you veterans :D I seemed to me we were doing a WR version of players list, and in that respect, it reminded me off NFS. Some of the cars handle real odd &( and most of them sound awfull  but they look great and there are many different cars and addon cars to chose from :) . BTW, how does that work, when your online, is it the same as with the NFS PU download cars ?
Obviously everybody needs to have the particular car, that has been picked for the race, but am I correct in asuming, that you don't need a garage 100 % simuler to the host's garage ?
If not, is there a complete list of possible download cars somewhere ?
I just grabbed every link I could find in this forum, and downloaded maybe 50 addons or so. I like that Caddilac -^
C U soon out there among ancient Maya Temples in Mexico, or in thw streets of that great city..... or......... that reminds me, I gotta go find that Normandie thing.

Oh great news, the Stig is here
About the WR Online Addon Dilema.
You can only use 30 cars in one online session. That means that the host can only have 30 cars available for play (if the host has more then 30 installed the game will only take the first 30 cars in his list.)
As a client you can have all cars installed so you can connect to every pit.
The performance files are not downloaded from the host (unlike NFS PU) so every pit needs to make sure that they use the same versions of cars. This is actually quite a pain but when you find great pitmates it is very enjoyable.
So now we just need to get Chey hooked, then we can do the old friendly XR-DC-battles :duel:

Hi Stig! First of all we were not using any extra d/l ed cars in Speed's pit yesterday. He was running only the original MB cars.If you look at the gamespy MP window, you'll see 6 columns on the left side with a single letter at the top of each.
P..an *indicates that a password is needed to join. This is optional but some hosts like to use it if they want to control who gets in.There are still a few ass crashers out there,or ppl who come in and automatically choose the fastest car and hit "Lets go"
D..an * indicates d/l cars are being used,as well as the original MB cars. This might mean the host has only 1 d/l car and wishes to race it,or it could be someone like me,who has 73 or so. :D As frank said, the host may have every d/l car out there, but he can only bring the FIRST 30 cars in his/her garage to the pit. These 30 cars can be changes around tho,if the host wishes by alt/tabbing out and re arranging his garage to use whatever cars he/she wants, but it cant exceed 30.As a joiner to a d/l car pit tho,you can have a 100 cars,as long as you have every extra car the host has.If you happen to be missing a car the host has,the game will tell you which extra cars you're missing when you attempt to connect to a pit. But,if you have every car out there, this rarely happens. I hope this makes sense!! &(
T... connection type.If a host has dial up,he might choose to open a peer to peer pit,as opposed to a Dedicated host pit. This choice will be indicated by a P or a D. look for a D,for less lag.BTW i dont really understand ping, but if you see a 0 ping, you prolly wont be able to join that pit for some reason.Actually there are many pits that ppl for 1 reason or another cannot join.Maybe the hosts' router issues??
C..a * indicated collision is on.90% of WR pits have C on,and TBH i prefer it that was, even risking the occasional ass crasher. In a fair experinced pit,C on with little or no lag is an awesome and intense experience. In that pit yesterday,Stig,me and Speed were trading paint for km after km.Some tracks are 20 km long. You can do even longer ones by choosing a shorter track, say a 15 km long one,and adding a lap or 4! :D
D...a * indicates Damage is on.Most use it,but as a rule I stay away from a pit with C off D on and 100% arcade. Might be a smash up.I rarely enter any pit that isn't at least 80% sim.The arcade side physics arent of any interest to me. :p
R...a * indicates a race in progress. If you see a pit without a * in that box,the players are in the pit lounge.
Like PU,most WR pits are same car as host,so best thing to do is to get into the lounge and as soon as the host sends the pit to the "Cars" menu, use the "Fellow Player +enter feature to see what the host's car is.Hit enter a second time, and you'll automatically get the same car without having to scroll theu a hundred + cars to find it.Don't hit "Lets Go" button untill the host does, just in case he/she changes the car more than once.I see this happen all the time. ^_^
Hope all this mumbo jumbo helps ya Stig,or anybody else who might see it.
CU out there!

Very nice pack of information there Rick, thx a lot. One thing is not all clear to me though: How do you rearrange your garage, in order to have certain cars included in the first 30 -- Alt Tab and then what - stir around a little in what folder and how ?
I'll certainly be on the air tonight, maybe I can do a watershortcut at one of the Australian tracks ;) I tried that when i was there whoaaaa....fun stuff ...manouvering just fine and going at 260 KM/hour on water, passing surfers, powerboats, cruisers and fishingboats, getting back up on the beach saying hello to some of babes there  It reminded me of the first time in NFS PU when i went through the railing at Cote d'Azur, flying off the coast and aircruising around that freightship.
Oooops... very busy time at my work so I should be working instead of reading/writing posts on Racerplanet :nono:

OK,if you join a pit that has no * in the "D" column,no download cars are used in that pit.Meaning that only the original MB cars are being used. All players will have all the same cars here.In a pit where you do see a *in the "D" column, the host has opted to enable the download cars he has, which could mean only 1 or 2,or as many as are presently available. It is up to the host.If you JOIN a pit where d/l cars are enabled, you only need to have all the same cars as the host has.If you have all the d/l cars then you're set.You don't need to change anything. If the HOST wants to, he can alt/tab to desktop and re arrange his garage to enable any 30 add on cars he wants to use online.there is a handly little proggie created by Ortwin, one of the add on car makers out there, which gives you a little list of all the add on cars in your garage, with little check boxes beside each car.By simply checking or unchecking each box,the HOST can adjust whatever 30 cars he/she wishes to use in his pit.I don't have a url for that proggie, but I remember seeing a link in a thread at Borg's WR forum several weeks ago.If you go to the forum, you will have to scroll back several pages to find it.As I said if you JOIN another's pit,you don't have to adjust anything in your garage, unless you are missing a car or cars the host has.The game checks your garage against the HOST'S when you enter his/her pit to make sure you have all the required add on cars, and it will tell you any cars you don't have.
