Triple Eight Race Engineering announced today that Steve Ellery has signed a two year contract to drive the Team Betta Electrical #88 Falcon BA. "Being part of the Triple Eight team affords me with tremendous opportunities on a variety of levels," said Ellery.

"Triple Eight are poised for huge success in 2005. They have demonstrated sheer initiative in the sport and also leveraged the knowledge gained from their UK Touring Car wins to develop a first rate team. The engine partnership that Triple Eight are forging with Stone Brothers Racing is also very exciting for me as a driver.

"Ultimately, I'm enormously attracted to a team that thinks outside the square. The merchandising and marketing of Team Betta Electrical is set to reposition this sport. And as a driver, the technical and engineering excellence offered by Triple Eight Race Engineering is going to be a dream to work with."

Triple Eight Race Engineering Managing Director, Roland Dane was excited at the Team's new addition.

"Steve is an experienced driver about to hit his stride. He has shown he has speed and we feel confident that we can give him the platform to make 2005 his best season to date," said Dane.

"This is a driver with a passion for the sport and the energy for winning. He's very focused on the tasks at hand and will be an important asset and integral part of the team at Triple Eight."

Ellery has just completed in his sixth full V8 Supercar Championship. He is married to wife Kerrie and enjoys spending time with his two children Dalton and Tristan.

"The 2005 season should prove to be my most exciting yet. Craig Lowndes and I have a lot in common. We're both about the same age with young families and have had similar experiences in the sport over the past few years. I'm looking forward to driving the #88 Falcon and working with one of the savviest teams in the Championship."

It had been thrown around that he was going to sign up with them , and its good that he has. Coming from a struggling team, this will be his chance to shine as a driver. I think he'll do very well with them, and he can show his potential.
I was hoping that he would get the seat after a very lean few seasons.

So i guess that his plans of a two car team with Luke Youlden are gone? =[
