Noticed this Aston Martin for sale. Pay particular attention to the power and torque outputs! :yikes:

While its styling might not be a marvel of elegance, it is very potent. :)

Good god that is a lot of power
The Virage/Vantage has nice styling imo. It may not stand out a lot but it looks good in it's own way :)

Very nice. I do love a stealth car. Applause the guy who chose that over some crazy Strosek-like body treatment.

The power figures are interesting in that the engine seems unusually lopsided toward torque. I wonder what design aspect causes that.

7 litres to start with, then turbocharged as well. Aston Martin's old V8 engines always had plenty of torque, and perhaps they wanted to emphasise that characteristic.

Remember the twin-supercharged 5.3L engine in the old V8 Vantage. It had 410kW, and 745Nm, although that is far eclipsed by this tuned version.

It is subtle, but anyone who knows anything about cars usually won't challenge an Aston Martin to any sort of a race because they are amazingly quick. 2.2 tonne monsters they might be, but you'd never guess it from the way they accelerate.

Whoa baby, that's alot of power! The torque is just amazing.. on such a nicely styled car, It'd be pretty tempting if I lived in England and had the money, lol. be the ultimate in sleeper cars, heh. :)

i'll say

1,150 lb/ft at 3,100 is a heck alot of power, i'd love to have that thing for a day. i wonder how much faster than stock is its acceleration?

Well, considering that the turbochargers coming on at 3000 would mean launching would be off boost, it would be pretty much the same as a stock car.

THey have a very long stroke and higher compression to make that much torque but.

I guess that would do for a shopping car for the ladyboss :p

725hp and over 1550Nm of torque should be able to move even the heaviest load of groceries with ease. :)

But I'll tell you one thing, if I could choose one of these older Aston Martins, or a new one like a DB9, A Vanquish, or the baby Aston, the AMV8, it would be a new one for certain. The new ones do almost everything well, and there is almost nothing to dislike about them.

Nothing wrong with that :p
Ever since Ford bought Aston Martin they have improved.
And the DB9 is so sexy my eyes almost melted when I saw it in person
They also had the updated Vanquish at the same car show :)

Then again, all astons now look similar since ford took over, they do have more imput then what Ford says they do, like with jaguar too, same with land rover, similar to how Audi owns Lamborghini and the Gallardo has Audi interior parts, and the V10 engine is shared with the V10 diesel and now on the new Bora in a 5 cyl version.

The Gallardos engine is its own thing, not a derivative of the diesel V10.

The problem in the old days with Aston Martin is that it only ever had 1, or 2 models on sale at a time. They were priced from too-expensive, to very expensive.

When you pay that much for a car, you expect it to be good, and while sometimes they looked very nice (the attractive DB7), and also sometimes featured nice engines (DB7 V12, Vantage V8), overall, as Jeremy Clarkson once said, the effect, especially of a DB7 was more of a Jaguar XJS in fancy dress, flaws and all.

The new ones just aren't like that. They are just faultless cars. They are very beautiful, they go like you'd never believe, and they handle beautifully, while the interiors are high tech and individual. What you are getting now are the best Aston Martin cars in decades.

The last old Aston I might want to have is a DB5. From then on, none of them are particularly desirable to me for one reason or another, until we get to the latest models, like DB9, Vanquish, and the wonderful little AMV8.
