I've found an alternate method of starting races in this game. You can also use this to find any hidden races which are not listed on your map screen. It's done by using the World Map.

From the main menu, choose Career Mode > Resume Career, but before you choose Return to Explore Mode, sidescroll to the World Map icon. There it lists all the races for each level you have unlocked, and whether you have completed the race or not (it also lists best lap times so you can use this to compete against yourself in a way). I found at least 20 races in there that I could not find otherwise (in spite of an entire hour cruising the city looking for any). Anyhow, you can launch the races directly from the world race map, and save a lot of time and frustration driving around looking for those unlisted races.

After the race you will be allowed to save, after which you will find yourself in explore mode, but you cannot reenter the World Map from there, you have to go back to Main Menu (as stated above) to get back to the world race map.

I don't think many people are aware of this particular map option, because it's not available from Explore Mode, hope this helps someone.....

Hmm... You don't need to go back to Main Menu****

When you have finished a race, you can return to the World Map... Instead of going to Return to Explore Mode--- scroll to World Map... The Race you just finished will be shown as completed....

I also found out, that you need to do most of the Uncompleted races to unlock some boards after you finish the game....

I'm using PC (if that makes any difference), and I don't see a world map option. My choices are Resume Career, Start a New Carrer, Load Game. Just those three, no world map option there.

JeffR (what I described is for all versions of game)

Click "Resume Career" as usual, then BEFORE clicking "Return To Explore Mode" which drops you into the game world, side scroll to "World Map". The icon looks kinda like a globe.

The"M" key Austrailian Made suggested is just the regular map screen available in Explore mode. The method I described above is an entirely different map in which races are listed numericaly for each stage (side scroll to see the different stages, scroll down within a stage to see all the races) along with completion info and best lap times as well as a close-up map of each track. Here you can pick any race (completed or not) and launch it right from the World Map Screen. You never even need to go to explore mode except to do upgrades etc....

I suppose it was just an oversight by the designers that this screen was not available from within Explore mode...or maybe they wanted it to be obscure, who knows...

Here is what you should see:

This is exactly how I completed all races. However, I scanned the entire city on hidden races before going to the world map, and there were still races left. I suppose not all races are racable without using the world map. In stage 5 for example, you have to race a couple of races against some close to stock Corolla's, it's just so easy.
