View Full Version : Is FS9 FF at all near realistic?

I have a Logitech Force 3D joystick and flying in FS9 (aka FS2004 aka A Century of Flight) is very strange. If you pull up sharply there's a heavy pull back but only untill you then push forward then the force changes direction and stays there untill you do something else. I don't know much about aerodynamics but it just doesn't seem realistic to me. Also you can set so you feel a bump when the gear is lifted, that to me is as unrealistic as feeling engine-revs in the steering-wheel of a car.
Any comments?

Some real planes will give feedback through the controls, such as when something is wrong, it will make the controls shake a bit (mostly larger jet-airliners).
I can't judge the force feedback as my controller doesn't support it.
On hovercraft, expeccially how our skirts are, if you give it more revs, the front will lower as the rear gets more air into it, but that's cos we have fresh skirts on the rear and slightly worn skirts on the front making it uneven.

VQ, interesting, sounds like my non-functional R/C hoovercraft model.
Chris: I know that planes, also sportsplanes (aka General Aviation; Cessna, Piper, Mooney etc.) have a vibrator for the yoke to warn of impending stall as well as a audio signal but that's all I ever heard of. My pilot-experience in a Cardinal was mild turning and I really didn't feel anything, it was smooth, easy and without centering-force. The only problem was the yoke that was slighly loose on the shaft but that's a minor issue I'm sure. I guess I could try the FF wheel as a yoke (but obviously just the bank since it can't move in or out) maybe that can give me some better idea of FF in FS9 (FS9.1 to be exact.
