Game gets a 91%. First I was a bit cynical on that high mark because IGN has been acting a lot like EA's personal PR service in the past months, but after reading it, the author is not afraid to say what he doesn't like about the game, so it's not all praise and glory.
...Unlike several previous games in this series, there is no car damage (and no drivers in the vehicles), so driving can often careen into an exercise in laziness and dereliction...
waitaminnit, there is NO damage in the game after all...? Ah, man.

Shame it doesn't have damage, because the damage is an essential feature to prevent online-racing crash fests, and wall/rail sliding through corners.

Hopefully my copy will arrive soon and I'll write up a report on it.
However, Remko's quoted comment from the IGN review is entirely fair and reasonable. It is not right to drop features that have been cornerstones of previous versions of the game. All NFS games before 6 have featured in car views of some sort, and since 3 onwards, they've featured damage modelling, something best implemented in NFS5 and 6.
Still not gonna get it. :nono:
And the reviewer has a problem with auto I.D.
"(and you can take your Cadillac Navigator with you)."
My WHAT?????? ^_^

Yeah, I noticed that 'new' Cadillac model too. He also had no clue as to why a 1987 Toyota Corolla was included; oh come on, even I was aware of this car's 'drifting' image (Initial D and all that) - I thought IGN was supposed to be 'in tune' with everything that's hip and cool??
It's a pity the damage was dropped alltogether, there were plenty of hints of it being in the game, not in the least the developer interview from this thread: http://www.racerplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13021&highlight=damage =[

Yeah no damage kinda sucks, but if they get the online play done right then they have a true winner in my opinion. The rest of the game is pretty good from what I've seen.

I'm looking forward to it. I'll most likely get it with the expectations of it providing more of what UG1 had. I'm not to into the online aspect, due to physics (at least the way UG1 did things). The openness sounds like a big plus, and the hidden bonus areas. I've wanted that in a game for a long time.
I'm just wondering where I'll get the time to play all these great games coming out... Half-Life 2, Vampire - Bloodlines, Rome Total War... and right now I'm playing an oldie called The Elder Scrolls - Battlespire for a clan lore project. Does anyone have some spare time they wouldn't mind parting with? ^_^
Spare time, spare time.... lemme check. I am sure I had a sixpack of sparetime somewhere :D
Oh found it, it was exchanged for "Half-Life2-Playing-Time" this morning ^_^
EDIT:
Oh rats, just while typing that I got a call from my dad, and he asked me if I would mind taking care of his dog this weekend....there goes my last piece of sparetime walking that damn dog

Sorry, still recovering from Call of Duty: United Offensive. UG2 is next on the list. HL2 maybe as well.
Has anyone been playing the 65GT mod for F1C? It's just gone from Beta to 1st release. Jaguars, Cobras, Ferrari's, Lola's, GT40's, oh my! Even some Porche's.
