Looks like a Photoshop effort. Quite bad anyhow, both the car and the low-rider look. :ack:

Those ugly little things are just about everywhere now. I've seen three or four of them, just in my town.
The owners don't just buy them though, they modify them to look even worse. I saw one that has 20" rims. =[
Oh god, how can you fit 20' wheels to them? must be really high off the ground, anything bigger then 19' is basically for show-off, as far as I know there are no race cars that use wheels bigger then 19'.

I'm sure the Bugatti Type 35's and Auto Union Type C's used larger than 20". ;)
ok, a current day race car!

I dunno what everyone has against them. I like em. The roof could use some work so it's not as boxy, but i still love the look, style and idea behind it... :HB:

dont get me wrong i like them, just not dumped and tucking rubber whle sporting the usual 6 inch muffler tips. there are some nice looking modified ones. I was mainly pointing out how the trend followers have found a new victim. if this one maybe sat just a inch higher, or if the front wheels could actually steer without rubbing it would be strait.
Called airbags Blackice, we have airbags starting to go through the commodore ranks too, they tuck rim, then they flick a switch and have it a legal and non speed hump scraping height.

i have friends with air bags, one in particular is a yellow 1996 siverado P/U with a corvette tailight conversion. his rims are ugly, they are like the old school chevy hot rod rims, he''s got 4 15's and 2 12's, he used to have 8 15's but some body stole em and the amps. his fault really cause he's always showin off before and after school and telling everybody what hes got. its kinda funny cause alot of the people w/ bags around here keep the back bags near empty and the front raised high in the air.^_^ its kinda cool tho, i wanted this blue 87 mazda b series thatt belongs to one of my coaches. but i dont have enough cash to get it back running and pay for bags. i'd put em in my self.
you start to see less domestic cars with airbags now adays because 22's hardly fit as it is. i saw a candy mettalic red 86 Regal a few weeks back in Ft. Walton Beach with 26. the rims were so big they had to raise the car to fit them. it looked kinda like a monster truck because the rims didn't fit in the fenders.
know there is a new style in america, since big rims became popular. its called ridin high. instead of getting as low to the ground as possible as in the old school lowriders, the point now is to fit the largest rims possible, preferably spinners, on your car, even if it means raising it. most of the time it looks tight, but theres some cars that just take it overboard. me personaly i like it, but for cars any thing bigger rhan 22's are pointless cause it ruins the ride quaility and you cant lower it. but on trucks, super large ims are cool with me. i dont like off road trucks, so the only other thing to do with them is make em show. Theres this bad all black Yukon Denali riding aroud town on 28's, that thing is so tight. and this gloss black Escalade EXT on chrome reverse spinning 24's, with a chrome brush guard and chorme trimming on the running boards. only thing stupid about it is when ever i see that man, he's always playing Ridin Spinnaz (three Six Mafia f. Lil Flip)and that song was old 2 years ago.

Plenty, Bonneville-type speed run cars often run very tall wheels. I'm not aware of any (at the top level anyway) sports car, NASCAR or Indy/F1 type race cars running 20" wheels, though 18"s are common on certain cars.

Indeed, F1's only have quite small wheels and small brakes. But they have quite large tyres in comparison.
When you are only moving 605kg loaded, you don't need 390mm brake discs.
They use 13' rims, I know that.
But anything biger then 20' on ANYTHING is useless, I'd rather have a 15 inch rim with 10' of rubber on it for drag racing.
if a car ahs to be raised to be useable, it is NOT worth doing.
Airbags are restircted here, but you cna get a whole complelte legal ADR approved kit for less then 5 grand for the commodore.

Like I said, many Bonneville speed run cars run 20" wheels and much larger, and for good reasons. Somehow I don't think Thrust SSC (which had 30" wheels) would have done very well on your 15" wheels with 10" tires. ^_^
So yes, there are some modern race cars use 20"+ wheels, and 20"+ is not necessarily useless. Just pointless for F1/Indy/sports racers/NASCAR type race cars.
Fine, but those aren't really rims and Salt flats are quite different to having to turn corners, gearing makes up for it.

for racing yeah, but race cars dont dictate the style of all cars. Like yesterday, when i saw that red S14 240sx on 20inch spinning rims, i was pissed, but in the next 6 minutes when i saw that metallic lime green 1996 Caprice on 22's, i thoght it looked awesome. Big rims for show cars/trucks, race rims for race style cars.

but i agree that there is a fine line between cool and just plain overkill
Show cars even, it has to just fill the gaurds, I don't care about numbers as long as it does that job, that is, make the car low as possible with as large rims as possible.
