I know it really doesn't have anything to do with anything here, but a friend of mines band is trying to get some recognition. They are a really good band, not to hard, sounds really good. If your interested in hearing a song or two, look me up on msn or ICQ by my e-mail. kemp_jonathan@hotmail.com

Well you know me, I am always into music. Given that we live somewhat close to each other (right?), I would imagine that your friend's band is willing to play a gig here in Calgary at some point. About the best I could promise at the moment would be an opening slot for one or more of our shows, whenever that might be. I would need to hear some stuff, and with the group's permission, put some on CD for doubting club owners. Most owners/managers take our word for it that the group is good, but you get the odd stuffer. Aside from this, I could always consult our publishing company and record company to see if they are interested, and possibly land any CD that might exist in some HMV stores here in Calgary. Talk to your friends and see how they feel about the whole deal.

I'm there, I'm there! Van is probably a better city for rock than Cow-Town here, but things are picking up in these regions. I will check out their site, and any other legal stuff that may be on the site and go from there.
Keep ya posted, and rock on,
Teej

Now that is some very impressive production quality! That's Vancouver for ya, the best damn studios this country has to offer.
About the music, well, in a nutshell, I dig! "Left Alone" is ingeniously structured, where "Path Of Ghosts" is pleasantly melodic with the full crunch of rock and roll in its heart. Songs like the "Burden Of Silence" offer the full dirge of the popular "sharp & flat" notes of todays alternative groove, while "17" is surprisingly energetic, yet soothing all the same.
I believe Soj and JT have their shit in a tight little ball after viewing their influences, and their playing reflects their heroes' style (as do all the members' for that matter). Perhaps the only thing I might find fault in is the lack of guitar solos, but then again, this is coming from me, an 80's headbanger relic, where the likes of Eddie Van Halen and C.C. DeVille blessed my radio on an hourly basis. In this day and age, blistering lead breaks and hair-raising axe work is not a staple anymore. All in all, Slick 60 is tight, melodic, and generally pleasant to listen to; even for an aging jean-wearing long-hair like me.
Vancouver has provided some of the worlds leading musical groups, and Slick 60, (who's name is a fantastic and creative pun on the automitive lubricant 'Slick 50') delivers exactly what Canadian rock enthusiasts would expect from a group originating from the depths of Canada's fine coastal city.
For those who enjoy a hard-edged rock and roll experience, but without the antagonizing chaos of typical alternative bands, I definately recommend Slick 60. Perhaps one of Vancouver's finest musical groups of the new millenium, Slick 60 is sure to pave the way for a new musical revolution, where aggression and melody finally come together in true rock and roll matrimony. :HB: :HB: :HB:

Did somebody say "an 80's headbanger relic" and "aging jean-wearing long-hair". :D
Well, perhaps 70's and 80's headbanger ol' fart but the ol' Levis and T-shirt are worn whenever I go outdoors. :HB:
I just tried the "Slick 60" site but it's down. =((

Oddly Rob, the link is buggered somehow... It points to the right URL, and that URL appears in the address bar, but it won't load, I had that too. Manually go to www.slick60.com and you should be able to view their page. I can't guarantee you will fall in love with it, but Dr. Angus Young is amongst their axe-man's faves, so that was enough for me (plus, I rather like the music, heh). Oh, and long live the "uniform"!!!!!!!!!
edit: frick, my link seem to work, go there.
