Bo0 11-04-2004, 10:51 PM Hey mate, welcome :) I think there was a sound included in PBP wasnt there? just had to change the sound to 3D sound in setup. I dont use it as it isn't really accurate, i use the default one cos you can hear the gear changes much easier, good for racing ;) monaro 11-05-2004, 02:09 AM was there? if there was i never noticed it. ive been messing around with some F1C sound lately so i might have a go for V8C but i hardly play it. actually i proabbly never play it. Y2kGoofball 11-05-2004, 02:17 AM I could never get the darn thing to work, from memory I included a sound but I think it did sweet F all I dont have the time to play any V8 games lately lol, ive found I only manage a 10 minute race on V8RD2 on the Xbox maybe once every 2 weeks But its good to see theres still interest in V8C and welcome to the forum matety! I think V8C's still a decent game for the relatively low system requirements, which means even people with older machines can still play a V8 game of some type Plus I think alot of us would agree V8C's bathurst is one of the best modelled out there for simming ;) VSV6 11-05-2004, 02:29 AM Damn Right Y2K Yeh I've tried messing about with the sounds in V8C (get them to sound less like vaccum cleaners) but I just can't get the sounds to work at all. Cheers -Mike Y2kGoofball 11-05-2004, 02:55 PM glad you agree :D brausch 11-05-2004, 05:24 PM BUGGER !!!,.....damn shame as the default engine sounds are really crap !!!!!!. I have installed PBP ,didnt notice any sound change,...and in the data folder i can see another folder called "cars",..which has 40 odd folders of various sounds. after checking them i came to the conclusion it must be the first folder which contains the holden/ford sounds, so i edited them but it made no difference. Is there some compiling of some kind that has to be done before the sounds take affect ?.... There are " better" v8 race games out now but I still like V8 challenge. my main beef with it is that the AI cars are way to easy to beat ,other than that its still a bit of fun,....thats what its all about eh !!. :HB: brausch 11-05-2004, 05:34 PM  Also wanted to say thanks for the warm and rapid welcome to the forum !!. I am buying V8supercars game soon so im sure ill have more to ask in the future... cheers. &( monaro 11-05-2004, 11:47 PM yeh stuff that, too hard. the sound files are everywhere, and i really cant be arsed working out which one changes what. if you listen to the raw files themselves they arent too bad, i think its the way the game tweaks the sounds that makes them sound like vacuum cleaners. Turboginge 11-06-2004, 12:23 PM I have been watching this thread for awhile now and have to say that I personally dont feel that there is anything wrong with the default sounds in the game. These cars are supposed to sound like holden and ford v8's revving their arses off and that is what they sound like. They are not supposed to sound like a blown lumpy throbby supercharged v8 idling in the main intersection of town doing its best to scared the shit out of all the Japs. Compare them sometime to the sounds you hear when watching the V8's on telly when incar and you will find that they are not too far from the mark. Just my two cents... :) VSV6 11-06-2004, 04:08 PM They still sound Alot chunkier in the real V8s Like Monaro said the raw sound files are pretty damn good, it's just how the game mixes it (i.e poorly) Cheers -Mike Perko_Rulz 11-06-2004, 10:58 PM Simple solution: Play V8C while watching the V8 Supercars. Turboginge 11-08-2004, 07:54 PM Nice one perks lol |
