Gees looking at that, its gonna be a hard race to pick.

Seton, Murphy, Bargwanna, Skaife and Lowndes all seem to have a good history at Symmons Plains.

Just though id post this for those who are interested

lmao, crompo was third in two of the three races in 99. how can we base any of that to this years championship?

I just thought it would be interesting to see the results from the previous events at Symmons Plains.

But from this you can pretty much bet that Murphy will either win the event or be on the podium, the same said for Bargs

Yeah i dunno, mind you a heck of a lot has happened since 1999, the feeling of the cars woudl be completely different, more noatbly PBP has recently been introduced which has made things different again.

Sure, experience helps at a track like this but theres no clue really as to who will go well. Like Murph said on RPM, whoever that has a car that is fast straight out of the box will benefit the most, it could be anybody.

15 drivers of the current season have raced there before - the rest 17 have not, so there are a few new ones!!

im tipping ambrose all the way, even though i want murph to win. the SBR cars will kill them down the straights, ambrose's home town.

well Murphy brought up a good point on RPM yesterday

Its been too long for any team to have "useful" data. In 1999 the cars were the VT Commodore, with many holden teams still using the older VS, and the AU Falcon with some teams using the EL (I think that was before the AU?)

As murph said cars, technology, and the track have changed since then so basically all teams are heading in blind.

The only advantage for Murphy is the fact Ambrose has NEVER acctually been on the track, and this is the pointy end of the Championship now where a good shootout result for the Kiwi and either a poor start for Ambrose, or a off track excursion due to lack of experience from the Champ, can throw the Championship into a nail bighter between Murph, Bright and Ambrose (lets hope its Murph because I dont want to see a #1 FPR next year ^_^ )

But as he said, no data any of the teams have will help them that weekend, so its going to be interesting

The Au's and El's at least have the same suspension setup on the front, the commodores had Mcpherson struts and all, so the Falcons have a slight advantage, and the motors in the fords haven't changed too much either.

no but the cars themselves have. Even hopping from 1 BA to another BA or from 1 VY to another VY takes times for drivers to adjust.

They said it during Indy, "the cars look the same but drive and feel different". Its a hard concept to understand and explain but each chassis (ie each car itself) are different, so for skaifey using his old VX converted to VY took time for Indy to adjust, and it's the same going from that car now to a brand new VY

Thus why its really useless to go off their last meet back in 1999, its been too long and you are better off going in fresh

Still I understand your point and your right too ;)

Of course it's changed, but for the Ford's it's slightly easier.

Also dont forget that the track has been updated since they last raced there in 1999.

It should be an interesting race so say the least.
