The point’s gain was a great result for Ambrose, but his wallet is lighter after a decision to fine him $10,000 for an incident after the chequered flag in yesterday’s race.
Ambrose crossed the finish line and immediately slowed in front of Rick Kelly. Ambrose was charged with careless driving, in that he failed to exercise reasonable care immediately after crossing the control (finish) line. Stewards described his actions as a serious breach of required standards.
Both Ambrose and the Stone Brothers Racing team have accepted the decision of the stewards.
Race stewards will also reconvene at the next round at Symmons Plains to discuss a pitlane incident involving both Ambrose and Kelly at the end of yesterday’s race.
Also on that agenda will be a review of the Rick Kelly and Jason Bright accident from today’s race.
Well Ambrose got fined for brake testing Rick.
Im gonna have to watch that again, thought i remember seeing Murphy infront of Ambrose on the parade lap after hte checkered flag.
Well personally i dont think there is anything wrong with Ambrose apporaching Rick after the race i mean he didnt touch him or anything he just spoke to him.
Murphy reckons he heard everything, although i cant see how as the camera was right next to Ambrose and you couldnt understand him properly under the helmet, so how could Murphy here what he said and he was further away.
Anyway it seems to be pretty serious and Murphy has thrown alot of wood into the fire, apparently Murphy totally destroyed Ambrose at the press conference so i guess we ll see what happens next

Yeah I think Ambrose deserved that fine. Someone was saying how Kelly had the oppurtunity to pass Ambrose, but not one time in the race did I see that happen. In fact, in my opinion, Kelly wasnt even right behind him, he was a car length or two bak from Ambrose.
He won the race so why is he complaining for?

put yourslef in ricks position though, you are second in the championship and you just had a stop-go which puts you right behind the only guy in fornt of you in the championship. why wouldnt you pressure him, if ambrose goes into the wall then the championship would be ricks to take the hold of. ambrose gets fired up because the young kid behind him is putting pressure on him to win a championship, isnt that racing?
I understand where you're coming from, but this will all really depend on what colour shirt you wear.
Quite frankly, Rick should be paying the damage bill for Bright, nevermid the piss weak fine for Ambrose.
Sure enough, Ambrose was foolish to brake test, but sure enough, Rick was more foolish to do that to bright, and to Bowe (Ingall was understandable, 3wide into 1st corner NEVER works).
Quite frankly, Rick needs to mature a bit as a driver on and off the track. I say off the track because you can't help but notice a slight air of arrogence whenever interviewed. Of course, it's always the other person to blame, never himself, at all. :nono:
The Bright incident needs to be looked at but the Bowe one wasn't all that bad, and not just careless driving like the Brigh one was.
Ambrose is a big girl, he wins the race for christ sakes and decides to go off at a lapped car.
Handle it Ambrose!
He is such a smug bastard too, saying he gave him chances to pass and all that crap.
I was watching from my PC his in car camera, he was in no way letting Rick past, however he did look back every 5 seconds ^_^
Cheers

He lost 2.5 - 3 seconds in the last 2 or so laps to Murph. Maybe that's just pressure, or maybe thats letting him pass. I can't comment, but with Rick's speed, he should have been able to make use of such a big drop in a few laps. Unless he didn't want to have to let him pass again cos he'd just have to let him pass back again.
Catch 22 i say. But put yourself in Ambrose's shoes, immense championship pressure, lapped car (not slow though) 'pressuring' in a way that could be seen as Un-nescisarily, depending on your car maker preference. Of course you'd be angry.
And it's not like he had the biggest lead over Murph either. Last thing, he could have been paranoid of Rick (with good reason, might i add) tapping him, cos Rick had nothing much more to loose.
To me, it was all a bit of a misunderstanding.
Don't get me wrong either, Rick would have been PO'd that he had the pace, but was in a poor position.
I feel Ambrose should'a cooled it, and Rick shoulda backed off a little.

But when you watch the replays again Rick is awfully close to Ambrose even though Rick was a lapped car.
I think Ambrose wanted him to back off cause he probably kept on mistaking him as Murphy, knowing that Murphy was in 2nd place.
If you think about it, lets say that Rick (being a lap down) was in front of Ambrose and Rick was putting pressure on Ambrose by not letting him pass, Rick would be blacked flag after three laps.
I think what annoyed Ambrose the most was that Rick was racing a race that he wasnt part of and Ambrose didnt see the need for it or the need for Rick to be putting pressure on him even though he is still racing - Rick was still a lap down and imagine if Rick punt Ambrose or cause him to make a mistake it would bring the sport in a huge dispute bigger than the Ingall/Skaife at Eastern Creek.
Also i cant see why Rick and Murphy are complaining about Ambrose having a talk to Rick after the race, so its fine for Rick to abuse McConville for overtaking him at Winton and its fine for Murphy to throw the occasional whinge, but when Ambrose does it, Rick and Murphy are the first people to accuse him of being abusive yet, Rick did the same thing to McConville just for passing him!!!!!
1 Big difference, Rick admitted he was wrong

Well thats not the point, its ok for Rick or Murphy to go off and yell at someone but when it happens to them, and the top driver on the oppostion side its totally different.
Even if Ambrose was to apologise and admitt that he was wrong and take the blame for everything i can tell you now it will mean nothing cause Murphy and Rick will carry it on for the rest of the season until the off season when everyone will forget it.

thats what i done thats why i posted the Symmons Plains past results thread :D
Yeah, best to just forget it all. People's reputations were damaged, and I'm sure that none of them wanted incidents like that to happen. To the future!
