I noticed some things already from the indy qualifying that theyve just shown on channel 10

1) I'm sure i'll work it out when I see the car some more, but there was a supercheap car minus the supercheap logo? I know in another thread the mention of Supercheap pulling out of Steve Ellery Racing, and I know theyve threatened to do so in the past (because I jokingly said if they pull out of V8s wherelse can they go).

2) WPS, didnt it take them long to go off track? I know a few of us here wondered after Sandown how well they'd go in a concrete jungle, it appears Bathurst had enough grass around the track to hold off, but at Indy with no room for error I see both cars off and causing trouble!

3) from above, anyone see the WPS car that stuffed Dumbrell up? I dont like Dumbrell that much but to see a holden team trying to punch out an obvious good lap only to be stuffed up like that is a bit  Personally they should count themselves lucky that Dumbrell reacted and steered off course, because he wasnt expecting it!

4) Skaifey in an old car! As I suspected the Bathurst 05 (which is the #2 Championship car) was written off, ie too expensive and/or damaged to repair. The car Skaifes got I think is 2 years old. I remember for the first part of last year HRT ran converted VX Commodores (dunno why they didnt get new VYs being the factory team anyway) which was just the 2002 VX with the 2003 VY Dash and bodykit put on, afterall its just the front and rear bumpers (oh and project blueprint being a VY)

About mid last year they brought the first proper VY, which I think this weekends #2 is, and its running the old Chev! Funny ay how the chev had an overheating problem yet let skaife use one after using the new one for a year and look, Ambrose smashed the best lap time and Skaife absolutely flogged it!

5) anyone see the V8 SuperSchool )=) I plan on doing that in a few years time, its just at the holden performance driving centre. Theyve got many different courses but it looks awesome! Although i'm more interested in performance driving courses at Eastern Creek and Oran Park, but you need your own car (and i'm waiting till I get a decent car to do it in)

anyway just filling in time between while the indy craps on ^_^ Acctually I'm gonna watch tomorrows race only because Besnards in it, its a shame Bright isnt in it again because I watched in 2000 when Bright gave it a go but crashed out

Supercheap sponsorship is gone

If you were watching you'll know the solicitors called to say Supercheap Auto had withdrawn their sponsorship of the #31 Ellery car therefore they had to remove any Supercheap logos or face the music

What I want to know is why? Bob Thorn who owns Supercheap used to race for the bloody team, and they had a strong relationship with V8 Supercars

I must admit I realised lately the ads have changed, they used to include the front bumper of Thorns AU supercar or the Supercheap car itself, but why did they pull out? I could never walk into a store without finding a Ellery poster

I think that sucks tho pulling out now, why didnt they wait till the end of the season?

Oh well their loss and I wish Ellery and the team the best of luck finding a new sponsor because even though their a Ford team I dont think thats very fair to just crack the shites and pull out of the sport like that, not after the sport has done so much to advertise the store.

also why were the ford logos on the windscreen of the fords pink?

They are supporting the Breast cancer foundation, the foundation's official colour is pink, hence the pink banners

yeah I was going to ask the same question but then I realised why

Our local holden dealer is also raising money, thats when I made the connection as their ads in the paper are all pink for that reason

Also that #2 is the 2001 and 2002 VX Championship and Bathurst Winning VX with a new bodykit and dash installed hence why Skaife blew up when his throttle stuck, obviously someone forgot to blow off the dust or oil it or something

Also I sense some tension between Kmart Racing and SBR, especially with Rick Kelly VS Ingall and Ambrose but I did have to laugh along with Murph about Ambrose's little spac, the poor guy was feeling pressured by a lapped car ^_^

^_^
Ambrose sure did lose it over something stupid.
I was watching the In Car cameras on my PC and I don't belive that Ambrose made any attempt to let Rick go past like he said he did.
He was just making excuses because he was cracking under the pressure.

Did you notice Murphy walk over and start taking off his helmet when Ambrose was going off at Rick :D Part of me wanted Murph to tell him to P*** off another part wanted Murph to smack him one, however the sane part of me wanted what happened.
I thought Rick kept his cool pretty well when Ambrose was going off at him.

Hard day for Holden, esp Stevo, a gear lever of all the things!

Cheers

I did work-experience at Supercheap auto, it's not that hard to work there, but annoying.
BUt they do sponser Ben Bray, which is big dollar enough. $250,000 for one car, which lasts for ages.

i dunno about you guys but i found race two quite interesting, and many things simply do not change, Rick Kelly for one hasnt learnt from his mistakes from yesterday :nono:

-kelly's stuff-ups-

1. - taps Ingall on first chicane on first race on opening lap, spinning russell around

2. - taps Bowe in exactly the same part of the track contacting in exactly the same way.

3. - Again, trying to barge his way past as usual, this time ends up in tears sending Bright spearing off into the concrete wall.

I would have thought he had learnt from his previous two mistakes but no, he tries to take on someone at a faster speed and as a results sends them into a wall. I'm not even a holden fan and i can clearly see that rick was in the wrong. The guy is an absolute loser, not doing it once but three times!

Then he comes on the telly saying "just wanted to finish the race" - yeah, wreck other driver's chances in the process!

They were definitley intentional there was no question about it, personally the guy should be made to pay for the damage that he caused to Bright's car. An absolute wanker in my book, he's not making many friends on the track i'm afraid, no wonder Ambrose got shitty with him!

I didn't watch the V8's all weekend, been out with people, having a life, felt weird, yet good.

As I suspected the Bathurst 05 (which is the #2 Championship car) was written off

Y2k you have that wrong, the #05 car was actually champiosnhip car #22, but Skaife (now realising that he is no longer the teams No 1 driver) handed Kelly the #2 car while Skaife wiped the dust of the 2001 and 2002 champion and thought this might turn my luck around

I cant see why you guys are bagging Rick so hard, he only younfg and he ll learn from his mistakes.

What he did at Indy was mostly frustration, in the second race i think he was a bit intimated by the altercation with Ambrose, also from what Ingall said, but i dont blame him for punting Ingall, he was just driving on the track unlike Ambrose, Skaife and Ingall who thought that they might cut the corner.

His bump with Bowe was also innocent nothing in it.

But the Bright incident i think was a a desparate attempt to get infront of him, by that time in the race frustration was building up and Bright was alot slower so. But he did the right thing and didnt blame Ingall for pressuring him, he bit the bullet and said it was his fault and was quite shaken up by the whole incident so i think he has suffered enough.

Hopefully Rick will learn from this mistake, sometimes he appears over confident especially after a back-to-back Bathurst victory i think he fell into the trap thinking that he is the best driver ont he road - basically over confident, which is Murphy's responsiblity as senoir driver to tell Rick otherwise.

Well after Indy i think that there are only a handful that can win the championship - Ambrose, Murphy and Ingall.

All Ambrose has to do is hang in there now and finish every race.
Murphy needs to appear in front of Ambrose in every race
And Ingall needs to win every race and hope that both Ambrose and Murphy have a bad weekend at at least one of the remaining two rounds.

I think Bright will be to cautous after the crash at indy
Rick would have now lost alot of confidence and wont be as comfortable racing.
And Richo i think is totally out of contention

Yes, indeed. Rick's head harly fits into his helmet anymore.

Doesn't mean he isnt a good driver, but Mickcals correctly stated, he has some maturing to do, on and off the track i spose.

What irked me most was his lack of guilt, or the fact he didn't apoligise for what he did to Jason Bright.

But he's young, learn he shall

He did Apologize, to both PWR and Bright personally

yeah he was pretty apologetic, he said "i feel sick that i've ruined the last chance of holden winning the championship"

also i thought it was very very good of kees weel in his interview to say that he wasn't going to say anything derogitory as his team "was above that behaviour". that takes a fair bit of doing when your championship hopeful driver just got written off through no fault of his own.

oops, my bad. I must've missed that
