Predictions For Indy
Well Indy is only a week away so lets have some suggestions on whose going to win.
pic of Map:
http://www.v8supercars.com.au//v8data/crct/crct_116.gif

Heres some info to help you decide:

Current Qualifying Record: Greg Murphy - Holden - 1.50.7030- 2002
Current Lap Record: Marcos Ambrose - Ford - 1.51.6490 - 2002

Past Results

Driver on Pole
1998 - Lowndes - Holden
1999 - Ellery - Ford
2000 - Ingall - Holden
2001 - Tander - Holden
2002 - Murphy - Holden
2003 - Todd Kelly - Holden

Round Winner
1998 - Larkham - Ford
1999 - Radisich - Ford
2000 - Radisich - Ford
2001 - Tander - Holden
2002 - Bargwanna - Holden
2003 - Ingall - Ford
.................................................. ..................................................

My Predictions:

Ford:

Lowndes: Well FPR seem to be coming on very strong since Sandown and Bathurst. I think that FPR should be able to click and if there isnt any mechanical problems then expect to see Lowndes on the podium. He has proved that he knows this track pretty well by finishing on equal points in 2002 with Round winner Jason Bargwanna

Bargwanna: He has showed steady pace so far this season and has shown speed at both Sandown and Bathurst. LMS seems to now be progressing and a round win will be a great boost in confidence for the last remaining rounds in the year.

Ingall: Trying to make it back to back. He picked but where Ambrose left off last year and it seems that Ambrose might be falling into that slump again. I think that Ingall will show great speed and will be the one to beat.

Holden:

Rick Kelly: A very streong condifence boost being back to back Bathurst champion. After winning his first pole at Sandown and his second Bathurst 1000 Rick will be on fire come into this round. He ll want to prove that he can take the mantle of No 1 driver for next year and make Kmart Racing the best Holden team in the paddock

Steven Richards: Had a rough time at Bathurst, but there are no kangaroos at Indy that can ruins his outing. He scored his second pole at Bathurst and now will be after his first race and round victory of the year at Indy

Tander: Well GRM have back to back victories here at Indy winning in 2001 and 2002. Tander show some pace at Bathurst and was the highest placed Holden at Sandown. Since McConvilles win at Winton GRM have found the confidence to challenge those drivers at the pointy end of the field. Tanders car will be one to watch.

Underdogs:

Ford: Ambrose, Johnson, Bowe and Winterbottom
Holden: T.Kelly, Murphy, Bright and McConville

Not sure about Lowndes
True FPR have shown better cars since Sandown, but that is what happens every year, seems they can only get those races right.
Lowndes can do it, but can his car?

Skaife is still in the competition, whilst not going for points he is still no doubt fast and can take the round here providing nothing goes wrong.

Steven Richards has a chance for sure (love the roo comment ^_^ ).
Ambrose and Ingall can do it as well.

The way this year has gone, ANYBODY can win!

Cheers

1st: Murphy - quickest lap qualifiying record, knows the track. though needs to choose right tires if weather is an issue.
2nd: Lowndes - will go well if he doesnt have issues with cars.
3rd: Radisich - shown speed here before, knows the track
4th: Skaife - still quick, and will be risking everything, due to him being out of the points.
5th: S. Richards - good pace all year round, will get top 5 easily (as long as some 'roo's dont jump in his way!)

but skaife will actually win

Nah no chance of a Ford winning.... unless they happen to get stuck on the front bumper of a holden and cant be removed.

The only time you'll ever see a Ford in front of a Holden is if the holden is on a car transporter and a Ford happens to be towing it.

So there

Also remember that there is a very god chance that it might rain, like every year at Indy, and i think the V8's and the Champ cars have swapped time slots so :D

Cool, I wonder if Skaife will re-paint the VX to match the paint scheme of the VY.

Hey, if they do that, we won't be able to tell the difference, seeing that VX, VY and VZ all look the same ish!!!

ah, jokes. My tip is on

1. Ambrose
2. Richards, Kelly (T) or R Kelly......a holden
3. Lowndes

Or something like that.....it will be close again I hope. Anyone's race.

Good to see the "Legend" car out on the track once more.
However I doubt he can win the round in it, he will just have to settle for taking out Ambrose now. ^_^
If it rains, Skaife won't need to take Ambrose out, he will do it himself!!

I want J.Bright to win, or at least beat Ambrose, I'm looking at the big picture here :D

Cheers

Skaife's car is still going to be a VY on the outside it just has VX internals it is the one they started last season with.

VQ
10-20-2004, 04:09 AM
Skaife_fan, it's the VX body with the mechanicals from when it was last used, so no holden motorsport engine, but I don't get why they couldn't rebuild the car, GRM managed to rebuild one of their cars in a week when it rolled, had to replace nearly every panel!

thats an interesting ruling by TEGA, maybe some 'donations' from an 'unknown' person may have taken place.

what livery will it run? the original 2001/02 design?

murph_fan
10-20-2004, 08:34 PM
yeah. It will be the exact car that was raced by Skaife in 2001/2002, read the article! Be interesting to see how well he goes.

As for bright, nah, hope he doesnt win cause apparaently he signed a contract with Ford just the other day (go to v8 central forums for more news!), so i he doesnt deserve the title now. go r kelly or richards but like i said above, murph will be on top again!!

Y2k came up with a good point the other day.

Imagine if Bright won the championship this year, does that mean that FPR will be carrying the No 1 on one of their cars or does PWR keep the title No 1?????

Very interesting, it would be interesting to see if what happens if this becomes the case.

Well Brad Jones is doing a similar thing to Skaife execpt Jones will be using John Bowe's 2003 car.

lewi
10-22-2004, 04:05 AM
But skaife's car looks terribly VY ish.............. did they just whack that bodyshell on?

Bo0
10-22-2004, 05:52 AM
most probably ^_^

I have a feeling an underdog will win this race like the last couple of years (ingall 2003, bargwanna 2002) although i would like ambrose to win for championship reasons, i have a feeling that he won't.

I was going to tip Skaife for the winner but that's now out the window cos he's running his old car, and he's gonna get flogged :p

So, i'd say someone like a tander, lowndes or even bowe might step up this occasion.

It'll be an interesting race, as it's highly unpredictable, shown in recent years the underdogs have gotten over the line (underdogs championship-wise).

This topics about the v8 supercars at Indy today...

First of all, well done to Murph who won his 3rd race at the surfers round, and took out the overall round victory!! He is now 3rd in the championship. -^

Race 1 had quite a few incidents involving Skaife spinning, Richo having problems with gear lever, and Rick kelly getting a drive through, and having to replace a tyre.

In Race 2, Bright had a major crash, severly damaging his championship. It was a race incident between R Kelly and Bright. Other incidents were Dumbrell hitting the wall, WPS spinning and causing a 4 car pile-up, and Brad jones smashing into the wall. Murph won the race from Ambrose who had a shoker of a start. Was dissapointing lowndes having problems with his car again and having to retire.

Also in the first race, well after the first race, Ambrose got a shitty and payed a visit to Rick Kelly, and stated shouting at him. After the commentators said, it appeared that Ambrose didnt like the fact that R Kelly was a bit faster (being a lap down) and sitting right behind him for about 4-5 laps. It obviously put a lot of pressure on Ambrose, and he also lost time due to it. The team boss said to let him through but Ambrose wouldnt. What a loser, he won the race so who cares, seems to me he doesnt like people who are quicker than him.....
Also Ingall came along and said some smart remark like "bloddy drivers who race for their rich dads". Typical Ingall wanker, was like that at Holden also.

Anyway, Here are the results:

Top 10 Shootout:

Skaife
Ambrose
R Kelly

Hmm, I'm not too happy with Rick Kelly's performance this weekend.

I don't believe he is a bad person, but i think he really needs to mature as a driver. For sure, he's quick, but he needs to learn the line between having a go and going for a gap thats not there.

1. Ingall
2. Bowe
3. Bright

No what happened was that Rick was racing Ambrose the apply unnessary pressure, and when Ambrose went to let Rick pass he didnt and thats why Ambrose lost time.

But i cant see why Rick was racing him even though he was a lap down, he was doing a Ingall at Eastern Creek, distract a possible championship contender so your team mate can get the better result.

Other incidents were Dumbrell hitting the wall, WPS spinning and causing a 4 car pile-up

it was Richo that hit the wall and the WPS pile up happened in the first race where t McInytre spun and Longhurst ran into the back of Weel, Richo into the back of Longhurst and Ingall into Richo

Your quote regarding Rick vs Ambrose,

That is motor Racing... it always has been that way and as long as there are teams it always will be that way.

Had the situation been reversed .. ie. Ingall behind Murphy I am sure that Ingall would have done the same thing.

It is not one of the more pretty things about motorsport be it Cars bikes or boats, but there it is. It is a team sport and thats how teams win championships.

It is unfortunate but it is reality

Dead right there. It's a dog-eat-dog sport and we are always going to see incidents like this, some people take it to heart, others play it cool, it just comes with the sport i suppose. Teh great rivalry between holden and ford is what makes the sport so good.
