.. That is the sight of something which happened to my car this afternoon.
Some bugger has hit my car after I parked it there after having my lunch break, and put two scratches 30cm long / 10 cm apart, and a couple of other marks. The thing which irritated me most, was they must have known they hit the car, yet didn't have the decency to leave a little sorry message or contact details! So now i have to fit the bill.. Probably $200 at least, as it will have to be buffed and filled, and have the whole rear bumper painted blue! Not an expense I am happy with!

Upon further inspection, it's not as bad as I first imagined. Looks quite fixable, as it has more of their paint (white) on my car rather than mine missing - at least one good thing I guess.

What an inconvenience. Don't want to be driving around looking like I'm not a good reverser.. And the fact that they didn't have the guts to leave a note.

Errr. ANGRY.

[ You can see some fine stress fractures, where the paint has split in 50 fine lines! Will have to be all done.. Damnit ]

That's no where near as what mum did on the van, she was going forward out of a parking bay witha trolly rack next to it and the bumper got caught and she reversed and did this damage.

And I have to learn in this thing with that damage on it, it makes the van look bad imo.

Yes, more damage sure, but my point was the cowards who couldn't leave a note behind. Just infuriates me. It's not too bad, but the trouble of getting it done.. Could have used this money for anything else... New monitor.. new graphics card, new tyres for car..

I have a feeling it's from a parent picking their child up from the school adjacent to where I park. I left it there at 12:30pm, and got back to the car just before 5pm. A short walk up around corner to where I do park it.. Tomorrow I'm thinking of leaving work for a little while around 3pm, (school finish time, and look for any white vehicles.. )
)=)

Yeah, otherwise it was a 4x4 with a bull bar which couldn't judge the distance on it cos the white marks would be from the undercoat of the bumper.

I feel your pain. No sooner did I have my Trans Am all repainted did some tit in a truck pull too far into a parking stall and run into the front end with his front bumper. It cracked the paint at the front of my car, which has plastic bumpers. Then, as if that wasn't enough, I had the car stored in the yard and a landscaper dropped a pruning tool on it, again taking a huge chip out of the new paint. Soon after, the car was in my front driveway and a taxi pulled into my driveway to turn around, and ran into the back of my T/A, taking a huge gouge out of the rear bumper paint. In all cases, nobody had the decency of leaving a note or advising me of what had happened. I was fortunate enough to have cought all the bastards in the act though, and wrote down their plate numbers as they sped off in an attempt to flee. Still, no compensation has been offered to me for the damages, and a fresh paint job went from new to banged-up in less than 6 months. It sickens me that I seemingly can't own anything without some doorknob coming along and ruining it, even when I have it stored on my own private property.

I hope you find the guy whi hit you and give him a piece of your mind... maybe even rip him a new arsehole for good measure.

I also hope you find the "hit and runner". Give the person a good piece of your mind. ;)

Damn cowards. (grrr!)

i'd be gutted if this happened to me, althoug ive seen similar cases, this happened to my friends brand spanking new Falcon GT-P. only they rear ended it in the middle of the night and towed the car away before anyone can see. the damage bill was astronomical as you might understand.

Sorry to hear that :( We've only tried something smaller like Alfa 146 that slammed the passenger-door in the driver's door of the 206 leaving a 10cm tall paint-trail. That's one reason I want a car with unpainted (dyed-in) flexible plastic panels, no big problems with dents and paint-chipping, plus they don't rust (the panels would be bolted to a aluminium chassic).

I can't say anything else than I wish you all the best
Frank

And yeah, back on point, cowards, I hate people that do that, i once witnessed some p platers in a crappy 70's celica hit a then new camry, and left a dent in the bumper, and they did a runner, but we got the rego and it was at a fate and contacted the office on it.

Well I went out at 3pm this afternoon. Found a car which could have matched.. White Toyota Carina. He was actually parked around the corner, basically one position from where yesterday's incident happened. I approached him, and asked him where he parked yesterday.. Said he was down the other road, (where I was parked), but 300-400 yards down the road! I have a strong feeling it was him. His car has a bumper which has two slightly protuding points which was also had it's paint scraped off his front left bumper. (A match it would seem). However I asked where it was from, and he said from a bus which hit him on his door. His car was really beaten up, marks everywhere. Just really gave me the feeling it was this guy. Well he denied it, and in fact, his wife turned up with their children, and I know her, as a customer of my work!

Well maybe if this was the person.. I guess I'm just unlucky. Perhaps if I see her in the next couple of weeks, I'll ask her, if they're hiding anything.

This guy also has an eye infection? Maybe that results in lack of vision, and all sense of hitting other vehicles also?

Case, unsolved. :(
Just glad it's nothing serious, or someone stealing my car. Then I would have to pay my $750 excess! This little one, will be coming out of my own pocket. Not an immediate requirement to fix.. As long as it doesn't develop rust. Although, being a plastic bumper, don't think that's ever possible. :p

and being a toyota, even the panels don't rust :p

i should show you my 'bang' when I was hit from behind (but I was in the car and it was an accident, not a scratch) even for a commodore it was a fair amount of damage

but on topic Waz and VQ ive done that to my dads car. Last year for our final year 'formal' we had to go to the city (Sydney)

It was a Wed night because the stupid girls who organised it got the event cheaper (it was a harbour cruise), being a week night and didnt give a stuff about us who had to work the next day, as they all had no job or anything to do being the end of school.

Dad had just brought his Prelude, I think we had it 2 weeks? Anyway I was under 18 so the idea of "lets go to a club afterwoods' failed and one of my mates had to work the very next day, see we had finished school so McDonalds bumped him upto 'manager' being cheap labour!

Anyway I drove us in. I had no plans of taking a female who was only going to carry on anyway and ditch me at the end of the night to head to Star City. Funny part is tho when they found out what car I drove us in (which is a 1 and a half hour trip from home to the city) there were quite a few who "gee I wish I had've let you take me after all".
Anyway I had rarely driven the car so wasnt used to it. We found a CBD parking lot, one of those shopping centre type ones. I pulled in ... This dumb biatch in this small Suzuki was screaming "youll need to reverse, youll need to reverse because the gate wont go up". We were running late for a boat cruise so I didnt have time for them to stuff around, put it in reverse even tho I didnt want to, and slowly started to back out of this parking lot driveway which was in a L shape

Anyway slowly, slowly, I know theres concrete walls and pylons, slowly and scrrrraatch!

This biatch is still screaming at me WHILE she's reversing her car, yelling to me to reverse, reverse, so they can get out, so I got out of the car to assess the damage and yelled back "ive fkn just ripped the fkn back end of my dads new fkn sports car off so ram the fkn gate down or shut the fk up"

Anyway she did, jumped in her car and waited till a security guy come over to pop the gate up. Had I known he was there I wouldntve reversed! We honestly thought there was noone there which is why the only option was to reverse out.

The damage was a scratch, it sounded worse in the car and what was worse was my friend jumped out first and said "its not that bad" but it was! "just a little scratch you rdad wont even notice" yeah, I couldnt hide it, dad took pride in his new car and you wouldnt miss a scratch like that.

Anyway dad was cool about it which is strange. I rang mum to let her know straight away, who rang dad (he was on his way home from work). When I got home at midnight that night dad come out and checked it out and he was cool about it, its just a scratch. He accepted the fact the car was still new to me, I had only been on the road by myself for 2 months, I couldve done worse ... I made it to the city and back late at night, battled CBD peak hour traffic (I had never really driven in peak hour traffic at that time) but most of all he was proud I ripped into the lady who made me reverse in the first place!

Since then we worked out its because I didnt realise the rear window curves at the end. Unlike a Commodore or Pulsar which is FLAT the Prelude rear window curves (ill have to post a pic) which creates pretty much a blind spot in that section. As I reversed I couldnt see the concrete pylon in that blind spot, and dad even agrees since that night he took note that it is a blind spot that he didnt even realise, and he assured me had I not hit it it wouldnt've been long till he wouldve hit a post or something that he couldnt see.

Whats worse is it was a bright yellow pylon I reversed into, so it scratched off our burgandy paint and replaced it with bright yellow safety paint!

The scratch is still there, as is some of the yellow still. Their going to need to remove the entire rear bumper to respray it, a chip stick wont work, plus dad wants it done right not cheap, which ive told dad when hes got time I'll pay for a smash repairer to do, but he keeps telling me not to worry. He tells people it was on the car when we brought it ^_^

Other then that tho ive never scratched any car and ive driven 3 company cars for my various employers, plus our 3 cars.

It is easy to do tho

this happened to my friends brand spanking new Falcon GT-P. Mickcals would back me on this. Ive NEVER seen his dad lose site of their GTP in a parking lot. The last time I saw their GTP in a parking lot his dad parked in a 15 minute library parking bay and while the family went shopping he sat their keeping an evil eye on it.

Look it happens, I had just washed the Pulsar this day, then when me and Mickcals come out of a local club after lunch it had marks from where Im sure a car hit it. Im certain a car mis judged the distance as they tried to pull into the next parking spot. Luckily for me some cut and polish brought it out, but it pisses me off they dont leave a note to say sorry.

Whats worse is thats how some people park, bump and go. My grandfather used to say "reverse till you head a bang" and thats just a truckies joke ^_^ but in all seriousness ive seen people that do it that way! I plan on buying a new commodore in a few years and Ive told myself your getting a tow bar on the back (it will come in handy to tow our boat) but your also getting one of them police type 'nudge bars' so that no one can back into your car without theirs being hurt!

yeah, he left it out on the steet outside his house, pretty stupid really..

Yeah, we fold our mirror in on both our cars cos once a F100 on jacked up suspension, whecked off the drivers mirror off the van when it was in the street, it was justunder the insurance cover amount about $400 so we had to foot the bill.

You have also said something about being rear ended in your VS, what happened there?

Man, don't get a nudge bar, their almost as bad a bullbars, yes it might stop people, but there are other ways to aviod them, like parking against a wall.

The new type reverese sensers are really good now, might be worth optioning that too.

Kind of annoys me that once i get my first car i will have to keep an eye on it to make sure no one hurts my baby. At my school it wouldn't surprise me if someone was to severely vandalize a car. NO ONE rides bikes to school and leaves them outside, last person that did found their bike over the fence with the tires slashed and the crap beaten out of it... Sad when you think about it... But so far i haven't heard anything done to cars, but there is alot of reckless rustbucket drivers around my school to... &( Have to rent out a garage at a nearby house to keep it safe. ^_^

Wazza, when did this happen? From the picture it doesn’t look that bad, but still the driver of the other car should’ve the courtesy to leave a note…

He truly is a COWARD!
