Okay, I installed and started it. Hm...I choosed the CarreraGT (as a PUer :D), game started, race started, car drove 10 metres, then turned to left and game crashed, I stay on desktop. =[

Started bw now with MB A 190 TWIN, was fine till last hill, jumped, drove a bit and game crashed again... :(

Seems it's a mistake in beginning, just started FW on Norm with S 55 AMG, drove a few meters and game crashed again. :(
All with 'Player 1'!
On Win98SE.
Let's see what others will say, maybe I'm too daft...
Sorry, seems that track is not compatible with all PCs, may be try updating videodrivers.

I went down from driver v45.xx to v30.82, it just let the game crash a bit faster. =[
My rig:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
GF4 4600-ti (v30.82)
Win98SE
512 MB main memory
And of course I tried to play the track with 'Player 1' profile.
Seems that I have to stay on PU to race Norm...

I can only find the track with the Player 1 profile despite racing some extra times with my #1 profile to maybe unlock it on the list but no dice.
I used the SL73 and it worked ok. The arrows are indeed wrong and the AI also crashed a lot since they misjudged the turns. As I believe was mentioned then there are a few small sharp bumps and I also spun out around a hill with just a tiny steering-input so my guess is that the surface is set to gravel there or something but of course it's a beta so no complaints, just a report :)
My system:
Windows XP Home SP2
AMD XP1600+
512mb RAM
FSB: 266MHz all-round
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro Ultimate Edition (pipe-cooled)
World Racing 1.6.6 INT bought from England.

My computer also crashed with a bluescreen - always when I've reached the forest at the end of the map... I tested it three times - every time the same problem.
My config:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600 @ Det. 45.X
Windows XP Professional
Looks like i've been bug reporting at the wrong forums :P
This is what i posted:
It's great! But, i found a few bugs :P
When driving on the forward version, after a few seconds the game crashed, this happened a few times (multiplayer mode with no one else in my server and single race against 5 AI opponents), and when it didnt crash the framerate dropped to 0.2 seconds whenever the yellow-ish trees were visible (probably because of my gfx card, Geforce 4 MX4000). But apart from that and the bugs in the readme, it was great. The physics are a bit different from NFS:PU, especially the jumping. I'll try playing it some more to see when it crashes and when it does not. Maybe i should try it on a computer with a different gfx card, too.
edit: The crashes only occur whenever those yellow trees are visible (when entering the forest in backwards and a few secs after the start in forward mode)
Try training mode, the game might not crash then :P
Edit2: The crashes have nothing to do with the yellow trees, because there are no yellow trees at the entrance of the forest.
On the other computer, with a GeForce fx5600, everything disappears and you drive through nothingness in the yellow-tree-sections, but you still see everything in the rear view mirror. It isn't a big problem because you can see where you are on the map :P
Thanks for reporting, I`ll try to find source of this bug as soon as possible.

Sorry to say this, but it crashed for me too, but that's not the bad thing, the bad thing is that it didn't crash untill after the race fwd was finished and the times came. This time I used the Porsche Cayenne Turbo add-on car unlike the first time were it was a stock WR car.
Greetings

Sometimes WR crashes when in the forest, sometimes i only see glitches. Some of them are quite funny :P

Reminded me of those MS-DOS racing games :P
The road in this screenshot should be like the road on the second screenshot, but the first screenshot was compressed so it looks ugly now :P
edit: some more:

Great stuff Krom
All worked very smooth for me :)
Only problem was that i left to cyberspace after the finish line in one race
The track feels pretty slippery, but it adds to the fun imo :D
I only raced off-line
my gfx
ati 9500 pro - driver ver 6.14.10.6387
Thanks a lot Krom !!!

LOL Come on Ricci, I've tried to catch up to you in every single WR MP race we've had and one thing you are not is slow :racer:
1: Back-up: runtime.fxp and WR.ds in the /FrontEnd-folder.
2: Check your version 1.6.6INT or 1.6.6DEF, written in the start-screen.
3: Take the two files from the suitable folder in the zip and replace the two files you backed-up of the same name.
4: In /FrontEnd/Daten put the Normandie-folder from the zip in the ditto WR-folder.
5: In /Scenarios put the Normadndie-folder from the zip in the ditto WR-folder.
6: Finally add the Player 1 savegame (in WR-SavesSinglePM) to be sure to access the track.

Well,i've installed it as best as I can,but it still wont work. When I select Player 1, I see "LEER" for a track, and when I press "lets go" the game tells me the cd is dirty or damaged, but i'm using the nocd hack. :help:
Ric =((
WooHoo! I finally got it to work! :D Normandie in the fog is a spooky run! ;)

When that happens you should read the readme, and especially this part:
Depending on what version of MBWR you use, place "166DEF" or "166INT" folders contents into your "MBWR\FrontEnd\" folder. Confirm replacement of both "runtime.fxp" & "WR.ds" files (You may want to backup these 2 files before replacement).
...and try again :p

Hiya Zooz. I guess you didn't see my edit at the bottom of my last post.I did finally get it going. -^ Now if i could figure out how to get Normandie into my regular persona, instead of "Player 1".

Patch fixing crashes (I hope) ready for download here:

It works perfectly in my own profile here...
"It works perfectly in my own profile here... "
Lucky you :D
"It works perfectly in my own profile here... "
Lucky you :D
I checked it some more, and it does work in my profile where i am driver no1 and unlocked all cars, but in my other profile which i havent completed yet, it doesn't work
Thats correct, as mentioned in readme, I think it`s something about "Joker" races, since you can choose any track to race (from originals), you can choose ANY track (from all).

Thx Krom! It's wonderful!
Dl'ed and tested today, works great, except the AI keep playing demolition derby with the walls. :D
Why do you have 8 parts for the map? All the files and folders in all the parts are the same...
Not complaining, just reporting! :)
Thx again!
Tony.
I`m glad everybody likes my conversion :)
Normandie comes in self-extracting 7zip archive (best compression I ever saw), and RARed in multi-part archive (8parts) so that it was easier for me to upload it. So you actualy need all 8 RAR files to extract SFX package.
Patch is same, but in one RAR archive (1mb).
P.S. There will be PatchB to fix AI behavior/wrong route arrows.

Normandie has been re-packaged into one D/L @ NFBS.It includes all 8 original rars +the patch. http://forum.needforbetterspeed.net/ at the top of the MBWR forum.

Hi Tony Macaroni
I did not know you are a WRer also.
Come join us online some time :racer:

Yes Tony plz join us online! Fez where have U and Frank been lately? There are actually several RP'ers with this game, whom I haven't seen in a while..or never. =[ I mean what other game gives you the ability to race everything from a Porsche to a Lamborghini to a Mercedes to a BMW to a Truck,to a ricer...all on the most amazing collection of stunning landscapes, and now PU and soon HS tracks as well??

Well I've been here as usual, but Fez has had real-life things to do I guess (lucky guy). He was in near midnight yesterday (the same we raced with you Ric last night) but we were both very tired, about falling asleep at the keyboard so it looked :(
Hope it changes in the future :)

Good to see u guys the other night Frank. Even if only briefly. =[ If there are as many RPers with WR as I suspect, the number might surprise u,but most, unfortunately have not played it lately,if at all. There are so many racing games out there now, that the community has pretty much become "Ghettoized". Some still hang on to PU,others like F1C and all its mods, and others are trying LFS or some of the new ones like Simbin GTR,or rFactor.None of these really do it for me.
I'll just keep on with WR for now. It's still wildly addictive, for me anyway,at least until WR2 comes out next spring;then all bets are off! :D

Hi there! :)
I am a WR'er, Frank, although I drive Porsches almost all of the time! =)^
I'd love to race online, Ric... ...I don't think I'll be able to race online, even if I forgot for a while about the phone bills.
I may get a wireless connection soon, so the phone won't be a problem I hope!
Cross ur toes for me! :D
Note: My family is not macaroni. I just love macaroni and spaghetti so much that I became one myself.
