A new one, based on the Monaro, a bit more...wild then the HRT 427, but that's what the original GTS-R was about of course.

It's track only to aviod the issues that happened with the 427, and is on exclusive order only.

Another concept for the moment is the Torana, which the last CEO of holden got in motion, it's meant to be a competitor to the euro cars like the 3 series and C class, but looking at it, it looks too E90 to me, even though the influence is actually the Vectra.

http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/*query?ws4d_nav=true&search_criteria=torana@&Source=all&Page=1 is the link for that.

Hey, at least it has what could be the high performance V6 for the commodore, 280kw's and twin turbo while being euro 3 freindly!

The new HSV"s are amazing things too, 297 kw, 305 DIN, upgraded 2 spots and option 4 spots, with the Clubsport R8 and GTO able to get the 6 spots as theya re the one's for track use, so it need it then, compared to the other models just for the sprint to 110 km/h don't need THAT much braking really. Add the fact it is mor exclusive then ever and the LS2 is lighter and smaller and easier to make then an equivilent OHC engine, makes it so much better.

Forgot the pics of the GTS-R,
a race only coupe full of trick custom bits, including 374mm Carbon ceramic front rotors, carbon fibre dash and door skins, roll cage, 19x9.5-inch rears, LS2 @ 335kW and 605Nm torque, 6-speed, 3.73:1 diff gears, fuel cell, chrome moly crossmember, CNC machined lower control arms, Motec digital dash, wide body, custom front bar with brake ducts, custom boot lid with motorised spoiler, custom head and tail lights, carbon fibre false floor, side-exit pipes, race-style fuel filler... it goes on

Chris.... Dear god please get me a lot of pics of this car!!! I'd love to model this and the Torrie, THe torrie first, cos that other link has 70 high res images, gonna take forever to get all the pics, but worth it!!!!

And yes, these images did originate from the Street Commodores Forum.

I don't know if I'm going this year. The only way to get good photos is to go on the press day, and I'm not on the FCAI's christmas card list, let's put it that way..

There is some nice stuff there this year, but I don't really know if I can be bothered going there. Apart from the Holden stuff, everything else is old news, seen before stuff.

Going on the public days, I'm battling with dimbulbs walking in front of the video camera, and ideas bumping me when I'm trying to take photos..

I really get annoyed when idiots walk in front of the video camera. Thank heavens last year for the sympathetic Bentley people letting me get complete access to their new Continental GT Coupé so I could work my magic with both still and DV cameras uninterrupted.

I do like the Torana concept - that is a very tidy looking little car. :)

It is, and one car I really look forward to 3d model, once I have all 70 high res images, oh god, this is gonna take ages....

I've got most of them already, the wonders of broadband internet. :)

I like the TT36 more than the GTS-R concept. The GTS-R will probably have nil future, and it will probably go no further than being a concept, but TT36 is realistic, it is the type of car ordinary people could imagine owning as their family car, or something like that.

Tone down the loud interior, and you've got yourself one hot scorching hot little saloon. I think it looks 500% better than the new BMW 3 Series as well. It has nice compact shape, and with none of the BMW's fussy, overdone details, and it looks razor sharp.

Yeah I reckon too, the GTS-R is going to be sold, in limited numbers as I said, but strictly a track car, I know people will buy it because it's wild and different for sure, and people will be fitting them lights to their VT/VX/Monaro's too, so look out for the illegal tailights too.

Can we call it the Torana please? the TT36 bit is just a tad annoying, but I guess cos it does remind you of the other prestige models having letters and numbers instead of a name.

The interior as it is atm, would win at a car show easily, thats what the sort of quality they do for them. But yeah, I wouldn't mind a mostly black interior and a nice shade of black on the exterior myself.

Chris: I've so far downloaded about 20 of them, but maybe since you have braodband and will have all of them soon, could you zip them and put them onto the RP server for me to download and then for you to take down once I tell you i'm done with it?

I didn't grab all of them, but I did get a lot of them. I'm going to get the American opinion on this thing.. I'm half expecting it to be called boring, looks like a cheap economy car, etc.. But you never know.. ;)

I think they are still in the temporary files folder.. I'll have a look..

BTW, I prefer to call it TT36 because that is quicker to type than Torana. ;)

i like the looks of the torana, but it looks just like a blend between a Maxima and a Altmia, theres no way you can say the don't look similar. but it looks good tho, if sold here, it would sell in big numbers, and it would be a good replacement for the annoying Impallas and Malibu's. but i know the Malibu's arent going anywere soon, with the resent major redesign and all. the torana is a extremely nice looking car, inside and out. heck the more i look at it the more i like it!

on the GTS-R tho, that is a wild car!!! me and my little brother stared at the first pic for about 30sec's with our mouths open! ^_^ is it road legal, or race only? they could sell that over here as the hot rod version of the GTO if they fit another seat in it and alter the roll cage for everyday driving. what's the LS2, 5.7 liters? i still think i'd rather have a twin turbo 6 instead, but nice regardless.

Late August saw the unveiling of an ‘Employee Enthusiasm’ GM Concept vehicle that won the name ‘Woodward Dream Cruise GTO’ when the curtains were lifted at the event of the same name.
With a seriously wide body and aggressively fresh features, the sensational-looking GTO had the balls to match, running the new 500hp and 500lb/ft LS7 drivetrain that is destined for the Z06 Corvette.
Functional bonnet scoops meet a twin air filter/single throttle body intake system and the orange paint screams for attention – as if the steam roller rubber and deep dish rims out the back didn’t do that well enough.
Alas, it’ll probably never see the production line.

That's your equivilent for the HSV GTS-R, I prefer that because it is more sublte.

The GTS-R is track only, becuase the last supercar Monaro they worked on was stopped because a roll cage in a car is illegal on the street.

But the Torana is not influenced by the Nissan's you speak of, it's influenced by the europeon GM cars, namly the Astra and Vectra.

Since when? oh, never mind, i keep forgeting welive in 2 different country's :).

they are legal over here as long as they dont severly block visibility, in fact, they lower your insurance rates since it makes your car safer in case of a crash or roll.

Yeah, it's a thing to stop cars that are quicker then 10 seconds on the road, because for drags, you need a 6 point cage if you ever go faster then 10 seconds. It makes sense, it keep insanly fast cars off the road and keeps everyone else safe, but then again, ls1 powered cars can run low 10's with not much effort and are near 9's.

And the link to the GTO is this one, because that is the wrong link.

yuck, that extra body work has to go . what is this, a comaro?
hold on, this isn't the same car you were talking about, is it? that styling is worse than the type feels front bumper for the civic!!

The vibe is a Toyota-Pontiac project, I don't think much of them, but that Civic bumper is no where similar to the GTO's one, other then the air duct, the rest isn't smooth or functional as the GTO's is, also, it's widebody, but a lot more subtle, which makes it look better to me then the GTS-R.

I don't believe that - since I've seen so many Porsche 911 GT3's and GT2's running about Sydney in the Clubsport form - with the roll cage, and all the other needed stuff for racing. (cut-out switches, etc). All of them are road-legal.

Well, it is illegal in Victoria at least to be roadworthy, something about the side protection bars I know, but if it can get engineered then yes, it's fine, but the cost from Holden's POV, might be too much to justify, but in the majority, 6 point roll cages are illegal.

Unless you've spoken to the owners, they might not be roadworthy. BUt then again Porsche have crash tested them and all overseas.
