This is certainly a surprise, but according to NFSUnlimited.net, the latest addition to the NFSU2 car roster is in fact the Peugeot 106!

Now that's an addition I never saw coming, I suddenly like this game a whole lot more.

Other updates (the news just keeps pouring in all of a sudden...):

There's another big interview with Justin Wiebe, a 5-page article on GameSpy (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/need-for-speed-underground-2/552966p1.html) this time.
GameSpy: Is the weather system random and/or changeable, or will it always be raining in the same section of city?

Wiebe: The weather effects are completely random. Some players may start their career during a sunset on a calm evening, while others may jump in and be immediately stuck in a torrential downpour. As players progress through the career they may notice early signs that rain may be coming as the wind will slowly being picking up, the sky will darken, and the trees overhead will begin to sway more violently. This is just one of the many subtle features added to the game to make the city feel truly alive.

That answers my question on 'dynamic' weather, then.

Again, there are some news screenies here, one of them showing, for the first time, the Hummer H2:

See the rest here. (http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/679/679035/imgs_1.html)
(off-topic: that is odd... I look at the URLs for these Gamespy thumbnails, and I see IGN in them...? :? )

News from EA's official site: they've posted images of the first three skin-contest winners, you can see them here. (http://www.eagames.com/official/nfs/underground2/us/editorial.jsp?src=vinyl_main)

(artistic camera angle alert!)

These shots also mark the first appearance of the Honda Civic and Toyota Supra, both of which had apparently not shown up so far. The complete absence of any Hondas (Civic, Integra, RSX, S2000) on NFS U2 media even led to rumours about the manufacturer possibly not being included... funny that there's still no definitive carlist even though release is only a month and a half away.
