Saw this posted on another forum. That is one costly accident, and a lot of valuable and rare cars will probably have to be written off.

I know a few people here will be especially pleased however. ;)

Edit: On second thoughts, it is probably better not to post the link to it.

Job opening! Damn, costly indeed. Theres a porsche speedster that comes by my work every now and then. Someone i work with is like, that's a cute little beetle. BEETLE!?! CUTE?! That car is nowhere near a beetle and hardly cute! ^_^ Could kick a beetles ass anyday. But that's the differance between car guys and gals and the average know nothing person. See two cars, what's the differance? Anyways, =[ Bet that driver is kicking himself now! Says he took a short cut to the expressway. :nono:

The driver is probably out of a job.

who would be pleased to see something like that such great cars wrecked because of the actions of a dickhead .
Here in Australia that company would be paying for the damage to the cars them self because the driver left the route he was told to take

I work for one of Australia's larger truck smash repairs we had a guy's truck come in and he specialized in carrying Ferrari's he ran in to another truck 10 minutes out of the time he told his insurance company he drove for luckly for him he didn't damage his cargo of 3 Ferrari's but it did cost him 70'000 dollars out of his own pocket to get his truck repaired plus all the bussiness he lost while his truck was getting fixed

Oh, some people who love to hate Porsche cars. Not me however. :)

Like was said in the other thread, the red and white Speedsters can be repaired. Maybe even the black one, considering the value of a Speedster. The 911 and the 356 coupe are gone since they're not really worth much, but they're fairly common cars, so...

To me, that's one of the best reasons to drive your own car. At least if I was driving it when it was wrecked, I would know that the car went out while being used in the manner it was intended. I'd never own a trailer queen.

This story is over 2 weeks old. Wayne, the owner of Pelican Parts took those pictures. Pelican Parts is a great P-car parts supplier and they also have a fantastic forum. If you want the whole story and tons more pictures, I suggest you visit Pelican Parts HERE (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=182285)

BTW, that thread has over 97000 views...

More pictures are also available on page 3 of the German Autofest 2004 page HERE (http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/German_AutoFest_04/Page3.htm). They start about 1/2 way down the page. If you like P-cars have a look at other pages of pictures.

I saw this a little bit ago too !! I have a place I live ( when in Los Angeles area ) that is 5 blocks from Pelican Parts ! It's a great place for Posche people, and they do have a great, informative website too ! I drove around with one of the employee's at Pelican Parts in a nice 911 a while back ! Awesome fun !

I'd have a heart attack watching all those Porsche's get destroyed like that ! Can anyone say "JOB OPENING"? hehehehe See ya'll later !

Now that's a good idea. Let's take our million dollar truck, and see how close to a train we can put it.. Whoops too close. :'(

Lucky the driver cab wasn't hit, and he's ok. :Peace:

I'm surprised they didn't hurry to unload the Porsches right away. Even if they get pushed off the truck by hand.

The truck got stuck 10 minutes before the accident, right?

I think is a more like recal that accidents DO happen and it does not take account how expensive your cargo is.

(I wonder if anyone here would care so much if that truck would have been a school bus full of kids instead. most likely no one would have bothered even post that here. not to say that value of 356 could even compared to kids' life.)

and oh... 356 isn't actually very rare. There's several hundreds still running around the world. (to compared to several others that are kept as "not so cool cars/models" that only few ones have survived until today. and we are talking about models that were massproduction in the 60's)

so, what I think about those pictures? well, I do hope that Transport company had a good insurance. It is hard to say without seing accident place, if driver really saw train coming. Because in finland we still haver quite lot train crossings, crossing accidents aren't extremely rare and especially in places where there's very little traffic, the crossing do not even have gates. (called as un-controlled train-crossing here.) and remember that train moving 40km/h has a already move-energy of three full loaded car delivery trucks running on same speed, even if the train would have only a loco and no carriages at all.

as a final side note, in last february, full loaded paper truck (weight around 80 tons.) hitted in full speed (80-85 km/h) on Bus that was full of youths and kids going to their winter vacation in northern finland. 24 died instantly. few more later on in hospital. Accident was a sum of lot's of things, black ice on the road, just a bit of overload on truck, too much speed compared to weather, etc... (road looked like dry, but was on ice. (as meaning of black ice.))
as horrible it is, things like this can happen. even if the paper truck was overloaded, sueing the driver or company does not bring the dead ppl back and the driver will be carrying the pain the rest of his life.

we had our golf carried down from sydney when we bought it, because we didnt' want to risk dad driving home with it from sydney, but they did stick it on the top of the truck at the front, so it was covered in bugs, not good.

And guilt is something that will haunt someone forever and if you ahve no guilt, your not human.

Oh man, just saw another ruined Porsche.

On the telly they showed a fatal accident with a green Porsche oldtimer.
It was going downhill, lost control and crashed into a bus, both people in the Porsche were dead on the spot.

By the looks of the car I would suspect the Porsche was way too fast, one could hardly recognize what car it was. I think it was some early 70s 911 model.
