I'ma bit pissed, ive taken an hour and a half to calm before I wrote anything

In what appeared to be a good game the Panthers scored the first 2 points thanks to a Bulldogs error early on. The dogs then scored a try (4 points) but missed the converion (an additional 2 points) so it was 2 - 4

Before half time the Panthers regained control with a converted try (an additional 6 points so 8 points in total) to be 8 points to 4

Early in the second half the dogs tried again but missed the conversion, so 8 points all

then the Panthers become sloppy and allowed the dogs to score a number of times, also not helped by a dodgey referee who handed out stupid penalties to the Panthers. The dogs had another shot at a penalty kick (for 2 points) but missed, they scored every now and again

In the last 12 minutes or so the panthers headed back strong by gaining another try, by now the score was something like 14 - 24 in favour of the dogs

The panthers looked determined to score 2 more converted tries ... which at 6 points a try would equal 26 points, unfortunately a few mis judjements put them right out

Then to top it off the ref "missed" a forward pass by the bulldogs, which was I estimate to be a metre forward, and allowed them through to score their final try (well I left by now)

very dissapointing

I watched some of that in between switching channels from Iron Chef back to the NRL, and I was thinking that you'd be pretty annoyed.

I don't really mind the result too much because to be honest I'm not a supporter of either of those two teams.

yeah here it was on at about 2am so when i came back from the pub and chucked on the telly i saw that the dogs were well on top of penrith and i immediately thought of y2k and his signature.

tough break about that but when essendon (AFL team) lost the grandfinal in 2001 after winning it in 2000 that was pretty hard, at least it was a prelim and not the grand final like mine was.

edit: if i did brrack for an NRL team it would be penrith so i was cheering for them. i just wish to god that the roosters win as i hate both QLD teams

It's only football, not like they are each controlling vehicles worth $250,000 each, like v8 supercars.

hah Monaro i'm anti roosters after the way they carried on during last years grand final v the panthers, so is Mickcals but the poor bloke works for them ^_^

You can imagine how he must feel working for them ^_^

Out of the 3 remaining teams I back Nth QLD, currently its 6 all to Nth QLD and Roosters but thats just me

VQ yeah but its town pride ^_^ Oh and some of them do control cars similar to V8 Supercars, if you saw the mixture of cars the penrith players own, theres a mixture of HSV GTS, Clubsports, Monaro GTO / GTS, BA GT / GTP and even a Pursuit ute, plus the poor guy who drives the magna (but I wont mention his name ^_^ )

they are similar only by appearance and badge, the motors and all the other engineering is different and they don't race the cars to earn money do they? :p

I wouldn't give a crap about any ball sports really, too much effort.

does it really matter VQ?

Anyway ive lost 2 out of 2 this weekend, the cowboys went down to the rooters 19 to 17

it was neck and neck till the very end

oh well, i know i wont be watching the grand final next week because it dont matter whether the rooters or the dogs win, i dont like either of them ^_^

if you hate ball sports VQ you'd hate to be in adelaide at the moment; nobody will shut the hell up about the power.

in town last night the place was running crazy with power supporters. it would have been ok if the crows had of one but power supporters are just the worst kind, they are all bogans driving their shitty rice burners yelling out "carn the power."

newsflash: no-one cares about port

VQ: You mean that you are in Melbourne, and you don't care about the AFL? Victoria is like the home of AFL. I admit I'm not so interested in it because Sydney didn't win.. (damn!).

As for the NRL, the finals don't interest me much, since I'm a Newcastle supporter.

It's only football, not like they are each controlling vehicles worth $250,000 each, like v8 supercars

They are controling something far more valueable and that is regional spirit and attraction.

For example when the Penrith Panthers won the premireship last year the city of Penrith was alive, full of buzz and Panther logos everywhere you turn.

This pretty much put Penrith on the map, literaly, before last years successful the weather maps that were on the news never featured Penrith until late last year they started showing everyone in the Sydney regoin where Penrith was.

Also the economic support that the Football code has brought to Penrith. In the Election this year Howard has pledged i think it was 2 million dollar to fix up Penrith Staduim and another 8 million to spend maintain and improve some other area within the Penrith Valley region.

Not mention Penrith regoin also supports new comer to the V8 Supercars Garth Walden
