Not sure on the authenticity, and I couldn't find (during a brief search) anywhere else mentioning this... but GT4 will ONLY be an offline game according to this:

Quoting the games exhibition in Tokyo this week.
I don't have a PS2, but I don't get why they'd skip multiplayer in favour of an earlier release time... this has to be one of the most anticipated titles for the PS2 (maybe even consoles in general)...

Hmm, interesting. Oh welll, I still want the game just as bad. And according to Here (http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49046&page=1&pp=20) there may be a online version released later next year.

Count me out  I'm not going to buy it unless it has an online play. I'll wait for the 2005 release, hopefully it will have online play.

LOL
You'll be missing out on a lot then. This game is not about online play (imo). I want this game for the cars, the tracks, and the great physics. I can't wait to get this game, even without online play. I just enjoy racing cars :D

I was considering buying a PS2 just for the GT range, because Ive played GT and GT2 on the PS1 and they were truley one of the best sims ive ever played :D
I think down the road I might buy a second hand PS2 console for the GT games, because ive already got an Xbox and prefer gaming on the Xbox, but I know theres manu games on PS2 not on Xbox &(
I'd rather use a PS2 Emulator like I have for the PSX GT games, because I don't want a PS2, and I think the PS2 emulators are getting good now.

I wouldn't bother with a emulator, especailly since my pc has a crappy GFX card, I don't have a DVD drive on this pc, and I can't use my PS2 controller. Also I forgot to post this: http://nd4spdworld.com/~venom/Video/gt4_hires.wmv

oh well... damn... why don't they make a PC version??? It seems soooooo cool and nice, i want it! Though i don't have a PS2, and emulators... any that work? besides, no DVD-ROM here for now...
I have a DVD player and a PS2 is equivilent to about a GF2 in graphics I beleive, and it is FPS restriced, I have a good well working PSX emulator, but have yet to look for a decent PS2 one...

me too. if GT4 doesnt have a 2 player mode, that wold suck, cause i have fun beating people on GT3. i have Xbox, and its better than PS2, i just want a PS2 for GT4. i forgot about emulators. there were alot of fake ones going around about a year or so ago, so i quit looking for them. i knew someone that had a PS2 emulator on our schools student file data base, but i think some one snitched cause his account got frozen. i never got a chance to test it, but his N64 emu worked cause we were playing 007 goldeneye in English :)
i hear the Blitz's R34 Skyline GTR VspecII ( the silver one that tops out at 218mph) is going to be on that game. that should be a fun car to race!!
I like making vipers go to about 400mph with full mods and a bit of gearing.

i remember a kid telling me a while back he had a car that he had fully tuned (he changed the gearing too) that it just pulled wheelies all the time. hey, you should get this thing called the code breaker for the PS2. it's basically a gameshark but with better cheats and a easier to use layout. A while ago me and this kid named mike in NC (when i used to live there) had HP multiplier cheats, and we had the Tom's Castroll supra with 6,0000+ hp!
here (http://www.codebreaker.com/) is the home site for the code breaker.
