Is there an extra charge for buying on ebay overseas? Or would i just have to pay alittle more for shipping? And what about buying from the USA? Would i have to pay a fee to get it over the boarder? Thanx :help:

BTW, i'm looking to buy a Minidisc player. Awhile back i asked what i should get, cd player, mp3, or minidisc. And some here suggested md. I bought a mz-ne410 which is basicly bottom of the line md. VERY restricted in features, so i got rid of that one and am looking to buy a better md player. You seen the HI-MD yet!?! 1GB of songs on one HI-MD and 300MB on the regular md discs. You can fit up to 45 cds on a 1gb hi md disc! They're still expensive, bottom line model somthing like $250+ cdn.

Anyone out there looking for portable audio, I HIGHLY recommend the md format. Theres a pretty large community for it to. Right now the MZ N707 seems to be the best rounded model, with mic, line in, usb, and 56hrs battery life on one AA battery. And sells fairly cheap to.

hmm well ive only ever brought from inside australia.

I believe if youve got the means of paying the other seller, ie can convert to their currency (if applicable) andpay by western union or paypal etc, then the only charge is going to be your buying price, and the postage price.

Ive sent stuff between Australia and New Zealand, and the only additional cost was for the air mail, which was around the AUD $8 to AUD $15 mark

Would i have to pay a fee to get it over the boarder I cant see that happeing, if anything they have the right to scan, or even open the package to check whats inside, but there shouldnt be an additional cost.

Maybe if you check your post office website (if youve got one, like Australias is Australia Post but I dont know what canada's national postage service is) and look for info on sending to the US it should tell you, because all your doing is the reverse, instead of you sending to the US its the US sending to you

Just my suggestion but all in all I cant help you

Like Ebay USA many sellers will not mail outside the US, and if they do they are selective of the countries they’ll ship too… Usually people from Canada can purchase items from Ebay, unless the seller says he will not ship across the border…

I think Canadians and foreigners have to pay hefty shipping charges…

like I said I dunno.

As a seller I REFUSE to send overseas, too much of a hassle for me (but un related ive sent / recieved from overseas)

Best bet is to ask the seller before the auction ends 1) will they send to Canada and 2 ) can they find out how much to send

As far as I can remember, I think it's the Canadian customs who will charge about 15% tax on your merchandise (in ON, of course). That will depend on the declared merchandise type and value. I bought a DVD from Hong Kong and the declared value was USD 10, but I wasn't taxed. It just arrived in my mailbox.

New electronic merchandise however can be a cause of concern. UPS, especially, may sometimes charge CAD 35 (!!) for "brokerage fees". They did it on me once when I bought a new 40GB laptop HDD. Of course I was naive and new to online purchases. Now I buy from non Ontarian provinces.

So yes, import duties may apply, and may end up costing more than getting one from Canada. I don't have solid figures, but if it's cheap, then they may exempt you. I believe there's a lengthy formal document on taxable goods somewhere in the Canadian customs website, I even read through it, but I can't recall where or what :D

But it's safe to say you should be ready to pay 15% more for electronic goods valued over CAD 20.
