I thought that was pretty neat, that a site chose my pic for the weekly display.
I've of course got lots of my own pics, on my own site, and ones which have been uploaded to couple of other sites, which are automatically loaded. But a shot which is chosen, just makes it that much better. :)
They didn't even email me though to say my pic was on there. Only by chance, as my dad told me to upload a pic for fun a few days back. Looks like it has already been online two days. (Monday-Sunday week)
I hope I just wasn't the only person who sent in a pic this week. I'll just pretend there was at least a handful.

yes, for your sake I too will imagine there were a few other pictures uploaded ^_^
I still look at your work in awe
You need to come with us to Bathurst and use that skill of yours ... my photos just end up looking like, well, a bogan thats taken a photo of a car at high speed ^_^

That's cool indeed. and it is a stunning picture, -^ I wouldn't think of it as 'luck' or something like that ^_^ usually any kind of "send in your best photo" competition gets a big response, in my experience.
It's not working for me dammit, anyway, I've seen some of your other works and they are awsome, I'll come to bathurst y2k, next year and take photo's on a tripod so it looks better, but I really need to get a digital SLR, cos I don't want to foot the cost of film, I still have 5 rolls of film from last year which i haven't developed cos I want them on cd too!!

Thanks for the comments Goofball, and Remko. :)
The area, is indeed Piha, which I just love spending time at. I'm really looking forward to warmer weather in approx 2-3months, when I will be body boarding every weekend again, as I did last summer. :)

Larger pic, (still only 20% of original size.. :p). The pic truly does look good printed 8x6" from the photo store. The screen just doesn't capture the true feel to it.
VQ: just see you replied... If you're looking at a DSLR. Try a 300D/Digital Rebel. They are becoming very cheap, well in terms of Digital SLRs, they certainly are.
Trying to shoot fast cars can be a pain. But with a fully manual digital, or an SLR, and choosing a fast shutter speed can really help.
But also tracking the car, with the camera, and clicking, and while that shutter is open for the very small amount of time, because you are following the car in pretty much the same rate, the car will come out much sharper, and the background will be slightly blurred. Giving it a nice effect. A tripod doesn't always give off the best shot, unless it's a slow frame rate, such as ones I did last weekend.
