Ferrari had early difficulties, with a spin in the damp conditions for Schumi, and a early tyre change needed for Barrichello. They then battled back to win.
DC tried what was effectively a 1 stop strategy, and looked promising at one point, but the strategy was later proven to not be adequate, with Coulthard struggling under the burden of a heavy fuel load after the one and only pit-stop.
The other notable retirement was Gianmaria Bruni, who departed the race after a fuel fire in the pits while refueling. The fire was more spectacular looking than it actually was, and the car received little or no damage. The problem was that Bruni got hit with fire-extinguisher dust, temporarily suffering breathing difficulties.
